Do you look forward more to the NFL draft or the NFL schedule release?

Do you look forward more to the NFL draft or the NFL schedule release?

Many years ago, I used to take the day off from work to watch the NFL draft when it was during the week and even did a mock draft with a buddy to compare on how we picked. Then came along VCRs and at that time, because of my Cable box, I could only record what I was viewing so I recorded the draft. My then wife thought watching paint dry was more exciting. I'd come home and watch the draft and tell her how lucky she was. She got to watch it twice since she was home with our son! She didn't see it that way. I never understood why not lol. I tried to tell her the NFL draft was THE most exciting non-athletic sporting event that determined every NFL team's future success.

I know with the NFL schedule release, many Steeler fans, myself included can figure out what road trip(s) to consider like the Steelers in Las Vegas this year. To some Steelers fans, it's like Christmas morning and they can play their fall schedule around it. For years a friend from Harrisburg that bought quite a few of my Steeler tickets would make the trip to St. Vincent's for training camp and make a vacation out of it and figure out which games she wanted to go to during the season

Do you look forward to one more than the other?

Definitely the draft. Nowadays in the Tomlin era... the schedule release is annoying because I pick out the games and teams the Steelers are better than and should win, but play down to and underachieve.

    Also west coast games....

Draft is like Christmas; schedule release is like Easter. Definitely the draft is a bigger day. Heck, is there even a formal day the schedule is released. Just seems like they drop it on a random Friday media dump off in May.

Yes, they actually have a show on ESPN and NFL network for the NFL schedule release and then discuss it afterwards.

I'm surprised they haven't figured out a way to televise the schedule release

I really don't get the hoopla about the schedule release...I rarely even look at it. BUT, the draft is a big thing for me...I leave work early to make sure I am all setup to watch from the start.

They do on both ESPN and NFL network and then discuss it afterwards. I guess those that travel a distance to Steelers games and make road trips they can begin their planning for the games they're going to.

The draft for me. I usually know the schedule about 2 weeks before the season starts unless I'm trying to hit a game that season.

Is that a serious question? I told a friend of mine once that unless the Steelers were playing in the Super Bowl, I’d rather watch the NFL draft. LOVE the draft!

    For me neither.
I just want the picks made. I'll probably walk over to the local watering hole and play pool and watch the scroll bar.
The schedule I don't even think about until around training camp and maybe a couple preseason games.
I like to see what hand I am holding before I start dropping bets.

I do challenge myself with the beginning of Free Agency and how it shapes the draft.
I used to predict NFC East picks with solid accuracy at least until the 6th and 7th rounds.
Pittsburgh is a little bit of a challenge, they have a different approach.

    Draft for sure.

Nowadays it's blown out of proportion though.

I heard just yesterday on the radio that back when Archie Manning was drafted his agent simply called him and said you have been selected by the New Orleans Saints and his response was OK, Thanks. I have to get to economics class right now.
