I know this has been a source of debate as to how much power Tomlin holds. I think the draft Tomlin has considerable say and regular season is more Colbert and now Khan making moves.

Something to watch moving forward. See what happens on draft night.

I think they have fixed the OL. Would an upgrade a T be nice? Yeah. But, honestly, do you think any of this crop is gonna come right in and start over Moore? No way.

I'm still hopefull that the light comes on for Moore this year. Somtimes it takes awhile. I remember everyone wanting to run Marcus Gilbert out of town after two years. Then, all of a sudden, you didn't hear about him anymore. He became very solid.

I'm patient enough to give Moore one moore year.

I'd like to draft a 3rd-4th rd T to develop for sure. We really have no depth there.

I like Steen, Gouraige, and Duncan, Freeland as possible picks. All of them, I believe, can be coached up.

The real question here is, are they going to sign Highsmith long term? If so, I can't get behind an edge rusher in the top 3 picks.

But, if they are gonna let him walk, this is where you grab your guy. It's loaded.

You don't think it's a good idea even if they sign Highsmith....even though We rotate them constantly???
Think, about how many times this happens in a game, and We give up big downs, or Tds. Just My opinion, but I'd like to see a quality Guy for that. Was hoping Dupree would be that Guy, but...

Watt taps out a lot. A whole lot. Nobody can argue about his production when on the field, but

Dude, I get you. But, to re-sign Highsmith to, what will be crazy money, then use another top 49 on edge rusher? That seems like an awful amount of cap space, and draft capital at edge rusher.

I wouldn't go nuts, but it wouldn't be ideal for me.

What would you be comfortable with? Would you take an edge rusher at #17? 32? There are guys I like but that's a tough one for me.

Ok, if Tyree Wilson fell and they didn't draft him, I might do something violent. ;):roflmao:

No....I'm not actually sold on the players, but the position. LoL. I've been paying so much attention to the CBs this year.

He better not mess it up. There are at least 4 that should go in the 1st...IMO.

I think Colbert and Tomlin were of one mind, I don’t think they butted heads on who to take at all.

I think the Khan/Weidl combo aren’t quite as in tune with Tomlin.

Khans first draft, he will want to put his stamp on it and with Weidl setting the board I’m betting the first pick will be Oline assuming there is one left worth picking at that spot.

Broderick Jones and kick Moore to RT with Daniel, Cole and Seumalo inbetween. That line would be filthy.

The draft for the most part is looking ahead. Certainly there are times (and expectations that a player taken will be plug and play, but other than CB this year I just do not see it. I am sure they want Highsmith long term, but the money he might want..even command just may not be feasible, so drafting a possible replacement this year would not be irresponsible. The same can be said for T, they might actually feel fine with the current line up, but certainly can be looking to improve, that might be an instant starter, or a high prospect. Chuks has 2 years left on his deal, Moore as well, but after this year you need to make a decision if he has developed into 'that' guy. The market for LT has recently been set at 25 million a year, will Morre ever command that? Unlikely, but it's still going to be expensive to re-sign or sign a quality T.

My point is we often think 'right now', have no idea what the discussions are in the room, but that thought is more than plug and play. We have a 3, possibly 4 year window to build the right team around KP. I think they have started by filling obvious holes with FA, now the search is for future upgrade in the draft. That does not mean they are not expecting to be competitive this (and/or every year), but to build that team you need optics for not only the present, but for the not-so-distant future.

A quality edge player is huge, We saw what happens when we don't have that. As most posters know you need rotation to keep players fresh. This isn't HS or Division 2, this is the NFL. You have to bring it every play or you will exposed. A cb, SS that can play soon is imperative as is edge. We still need quality depth at these positions. I hope they can find this in the upcoming draft. Will help us compete against the superior rosters. Only 7 playoff spots, AFC is loaded.
We need to be able to compete at this level.

But if they use #49 on an Edge rusher, he will be cheap for 4 years.

Who is Andrew Wilbar? Can't say I trust the source on this one.

I guess it is possible that they disagree on priorities in this draft, but edge makes little sense for the first or second round unless they are going to let Highsmith walk, which seems like a huge mistake.

Just some guy from behind the Steeler Curtain. I don’t trust anyone when it comes to the inner workings of the Steelers draft since they are so tight lipped but I could see this having some truth to it.

Given Colbert and Tomlins history tending to the line I don’t think it is their philosophy putting high draft picks into it. We know Weidl clearly does believe in building through the trenches and he is setting the board. That leaves Khan as the wild card.

Well I did put a question mark in the title

Tomlin has known one GM his entire tenure and had a fantastic relationship with him. Is it really hard to believe the new regime may not be in agreement with him on the best approach this draft.

Moore as a Right Tackle?! I would rather take my chances with Chuks at LT with Darnell Wright at RT personally. Then again, Chuks is on borrowed time... so there is that to consider.
