    Meh...
I would agree, compete with the Subs. If he can't beat them then move on.
Chicago is no team to measure to. He wasn't viewed as much there.

I believe it will all come down to who We draft high. If We draft that position high ....Well He's probably gone, but if not....I believe He has a good chance to be on the team.

    Tanner Muse, good signing.
Missing Dupree, so-so.. I figure he did want to start but he won't fit in Atlanta.

Steelers signed some LB/S Tanner Muse, formally with the Seahawks. I guess this is a ST/depth signing.

Agreed. Third OLB for the Steelers would have been the best fit for him. I imagine they might have even run some of those formations with him on the field with both Watt and Highsmith, as they did a few times in 2020. This team has a serious depth problem.

They will probably draft an OLB within the first three rounds.

It looks like it wasn't about starting. Dupree wanted a one-year deal and the Steelers prefer two-year contracts. The deal he got from Atlanta could pay him up to $5 million with incentives. If the Steelers really said no because they didn't want to do only a one-year deal, I think that was a mistake, one that leaves them with nothing but scrubs behind Watt and Highsmith.

i know they haven't made blockbuster pickups in free agency this year and last but i do think they have strengthened this team with every pick they have made. these guys may not be superstars but they will make us better even as spot players. overall we are better then we have been in years. addition by subtraction as well. they have also built through the draft quite well the last few years. then they have added these small additions here and there with solid role players that they have filled in with. good job stillers.

It seems like they're being very deliberate. I don't think I've ever seen them sign so many guys, and back up type guys in FA like this. But, maybe these guys all have specific things they're looking for. After the draft, even already, this team is going to be quite different from a year ago.

And I'm all for that. This team needed a bit of a shake up. Doesn't hurt to clean out the gutters once in awhile.

Harvin will have some competition in camp, if he isn't released before then.

    Agreed.

I’m really starting to fall in line with some of the stuff they’ve done, and only wished they pulled a couple different levers.

I know it’s not the same thing and a different game, but lately I’ve been thinking about the great sports film “Money Ball” and everything Billy Bean did with analytics in that story.

It seems like the NFL and the Steelers are using a metric like that quite effectively to fill out the depth here.

Any opinions shared or think differently?

That is why I am kind of wondering if we wouldn't be better off draft Wright to play RT next year, and letting Chuks and Moore battle it out for the starting LT position.

This also puts your Rookie RT next to your best veteran RG Daniels.

I was all in on the Steelers going after a LT early in the draft, but the more and more I think about it, the team may be better off drafting a RT this year.

Write seems more and more like exactly the type of player that will make training camp competition move the needle on this squad more than other candidates because he’s had a lot of great success at both sides of the line with a very good sample size in SEC.

He might not be the cream of the crop at one side or the other, but his flexibility is what Tomlin seems to look for. I would not be upset with his pick at all. Especially at 32 or 48.
