For those in the Northeast, Saratoga Springs, NY is a nice road trip, especially during race season. We spent a week there last summer. One of our best days of that trip was making the 2 hour drive up to Lake Placid for a day. My wife did the bobsled run (on wheels) and we drove to the top of Mount Whiteface for the long views on a cloudless day.

My best trip ever was a two week trip through Italy in 2018: Rome, Florence, the Tuscan countryside, Venice.

Agreed. My wife and I did Rome, Cinque Terre and Florence a few years ago. If it weren't for the flight time, I'd go back to Florence often!

If I went to Italy I know for a fact all I would want to do is eat. I'd for sure just be wanting to search out the best food spots.

That would straight up be just a good restaurant hunting trip. Haha!

So, despite walking 5+ miles per day through cities, towns, museums, historic sites, etc, I gained weight in Italy. Some of the meals were unlike any Italian food I’ve ever had in the US. Next level awesome.

We found this restaurant down an alley in Florence. Seated, maybe, 10 people. A literal hole in the wall!

I had the best roasted potatoes I’ve ever eaten at a restaurant in Florence. It was more like 40-50 seats though. There was also a hole in the wall sandwich shop a couple of blocks from the Palazzo Vecchio and the Ufizzi Gallery with a 50+ person line out the door. We got insanely good porketta sandwiches there.

I used to go to this place in St Croix that was an absolute dive, but had amazing food. It was right on the ocean and had a pea gravel floor. If it rained water would run through the dining room. A little old couple owned the place. He would go fishing during the day and she would cook whatever he caught that day. Absolutely amazing food

There used to be a woman who would cook amazing fish tacos out of the back of her pick up in front of the Marina De La Paz. Her husband was a fisherman and she'd make tacos out of whatever species he caught that morning!

It's good, but I rather have Stracotto.
    Also it's Porchetta.

According to google, fwiw, Porchetta and Porketta is the same thing. I've never had it. Very curious to try it though!

    Ahh yes Tuscany.
Don't ever drive a car in Siena on a Sunday.
I almost ran over entire parade.
Thank god they wore yellow and black leggings which is the only reason noticed and stopped.

I just booked my flights for a trip to Tuscany in September

At least one week will be centered around Sienna

    I’m debating renting a car

We had to drive by Sienna. Unfortunately at the time I was suffering from Achilles tendinosis, and walking hills was problematic. We stayed here: https://www.mormoraia.it/farmhouse_san_gimignano_tuscany.php

It has great views of San Gimingano and is maybe 30-40 minutes from Sienna. The dinners in their restaurant were great.
