Julius Brents is a 6'4" ball hawk. He is a physical CB but doesn't have top end speed running around a 4.55 forty.

Or the speed, or the competition faced.
I'd take Him in the 3rd.

Charlie Jones is a pass catching machine with 112 receptions last year for Purdue. He has great hands and decent speed at 4.43, but he is only 5'11" and weighs 175. This is where not having a 5th or 6th round really hurts the Steelers. Guys like Charlie Jones and Israel Abandikanda might be a reach in round 4 but will be long gone by round #7.

will only be so many openings for added players. they seem to do well in the UDFA department to where there are still decent players to be had. not a lot of 5-6 rounders make a ton of difference on most teams in the first season. hopefully the first 5 picks fill what voids we want to fill and the later rounds and after will fill some depth and future spots.

I watched some of Brents’ games last night. He is GREAT in run support and blowing up WR screens. He’s solid in zone defense, and will tackle the catch and separate the receiver from the ball. His man coverage is a hot mess right now. When you watch, you can see that it’s not due to physical limitations. It’s his eyes. He sometimes loses track of both the receivers and the ball on the same play, and that’s not good.

I see Brents as a guy who has the potential to be a good NFL outside corner, but it’s going to take some coaching of technique in man coverage to overcome his deficiencies. He’s already pro ready in zone IMO.

Looks like this will be the year the Steelers do not draft a highly talented WR.

Have you seen the list of WRs they are bringing in for interviews? 3rd round at best talent.

And damn, do I hate the fact they are bringing in Siaki Ika instead of Mazi Smith.

We know that they brought the house to the Michigan pro day, and I’ve also read that they had dinner with Mazi Smith. They may know what they need to know without using a 30 visit slot on him.

i have to agree about darius rush too. i like him as well. there are several guys past the first group that play quite well and have better QB against ratings then some of the top guys. yea i know it depends on who the QB's were that they played against but just as much as that is who they played with against those QB's. Georgia and Bama had the best players in the country playing with these guys.

No it's also the Wrs, and Qbs they faced. Again....Do You judge How good out CBs are against Lamar Jackson/Wrs, or Burrow/Wrs???

Doesn't it matter who's rushing burrow or jackson? Malik reed or TJ watt? Just like Georgia's players or bamas players rushing a passer makes these corners look a little better then they might be against NFL players. Those teams have the best guys all around them, that may make them look a little better then they may be against equal competition. Sure better wrs and qbs will also make a difference. It's a total of everything involved. I'm saying be careful of the rankings that the so called experts on draft sites give to certain players on certain teams over possibly better individual players from not so loved conferences. Gardner last year didn't come from the big boys. He is quite good. So are some of these later graded corners.

I was talking with 6 about darius rush. It's not directed at you. I was just saying others are quite good too as are other conferences. A good corner is a good corner and I want a good corner or two. I want one that works for the Steelers and don't care if they are in round one or four. Just so they can play.

Khan said they might be looking to add a slot WR, that's why they're looking at those three guys, Reed can also be a return guy on special teams.

I know Gunner is still on the roster, but I hope Austin gets a chance to show what he can do in the return game.

Xavier Hutchinson caught 254 passes in his 3 year career for the Cyclones. He doesn't do anything spectacular, he just simply gets open and catches the ball.
