Why would he show this? How many of those coaches have Super Bowl Trophies to show for? All of that hootin and hollor is just a show to cover up their incompetence of coaching. Herm was awful as a coach, and the other two were not much better. What does Tomlin have to show for "keeping his cool" in the public eye.... two Super Bowl appearances and one Super Bowl Trophy. You don't have to yell at people to get your point across. (Something I teach my Marines everyday)

I remember seeing a story a couple of years ago where they said that a certain branch of the military was gonna cut out the yelling in people's faces. I told one of my buddies at work about it who had gone to boot camp and he said the Army yelled pretty hard when he went a year or so ago. So it was the Marines that cut that out? That really surprises me. I always thought they prided themselves on doing it. I mean I actually believed that Drill Sergeants were INSTRUCTED to scream at people. So is it banned or just they let each one decide their own methods?

That one with Dennis Green was so funny. I mean the Bears did everything imaginable to lose that game and still WON! That's one of the most memorable MNF games for me. That and the Cowboys vs Bills when Romo stunk it up BAD and still won. Then number 3 would be 07 Rats vs Pats when Rexy called the timeout and blew the game for the Rats. LOLOLOL! I loved it!

LOL, boot camp will always be boot camp. I'm talking in general, some people love to yell but sooner or later it will lose it's effectiveness and cost them their jobs like the coaches in the clip.

to yell at his team without ever raising HIS voice .. to show them this is the road they are on and it is time to change lanes ..

how many rings did Tomlin have when he came here and put on one of the toughest training camps in recent memory ?

is it ? or is it because the players where not playing up to standard ? ( eerily familiar as to what we are going through right now )

does not change the fact that their teams where not playing well , just like we are not playing well ..team performance is the greatest reflection on who the coach is in this league ...losing coaches are deemed bad coaches , poor performance of players equates to losing coaches

what he does in the public eye has zero to do with what transpires on the football field on Sundays

7-6 record on what has been considered an easy schedule by NFL standards with losses coming against a handful of subpar teams while your team has shown not only a lack of effort but a lack of concentration and in some cases a lack of desire ... this all points to changing the way you normally do business in order to change results ... any good manager of anything worth managing learns how to adapt to circumstances and you being in the Military should realize changing the way you do things is a mandatory when you have a change in environment to get the necessary results .....

Boy, I really hope the Steelers win this week so we can stop talking about Tomlin being the worst coach since Cam Cameron with the Dolphins

I do not believe that has been implied by anyone , I think the concern is we seemingly are not learning from our failures and repeating the cycle instead of learning from them and fixing the issues that cause them ... quite different than saying someone sucks , you do not have the amount of success he has had by sucking ... you can however fall into a set of bad habits and not realize it or understand how to come out of it ...

I haven't witnessed a lack of effort from this team this season. They were in just about every game they loss. A play here or there and the outcome of several games would had been different. I swear, people act like this team is 4-10 and not in the middle of a playoff race.

I agree mostly, but SD and Cleveland were terrible efforts IMO. But you are right, still control our own destiny, Sunday will tell us a lot about this team. I still believe we can get on a roll.

I was being absurd when I used Cam Cameron as an example. I was trying to demonstrate the absurdity of everyone talking about how bad a coach Tomlin is by being absurd myself. After every loss we get people on here wishing they had a Ryan or a Hairball as their coach. There are predictions of the Rooney's firing Tomlin before his contract is up. These statements are absurd. We are a team in the middle of a playoff hunt, plagued by injuries, playing in an 8-8 league. Yes, we all would like to be 11-2, but we're not. Either way, Tomlin is and will continue to be our coach.

Not banned in boot camp Blunt. Not banned anywhere. If you can get it done without yelling and stuff, makes life easier. BTW no such thing as a Drill Sergeant in the Marines. There is only one Drill Instructor in the world. That is the Marines

Oh. But regardless of yelling or not I'm supposing that boot camp is not exactly a cakewalk. So Drill Sergeants are only in the other branch?

In the Marine Corps their called "Drill Instructors" vice Drill Sergeants. I'm not a drill Instructor but like me, every Marine goes through boot camp and gets yelled at. Thas what we call our right of passage but after bootcamp you go and do your job.

Yep Blunt. The Army has Drill Sergeants and other military. The Marine Corps is the only outfit with Drill Instructors. I was a Drill Instructor Blunt. Don't know how since I had to see a shrink to be one. If the shrink says You ain't right" You can't be one. I think they use Tainted shrinks because, they passed me.

LOL. You think you're more of a task master than Tomlin? I'm in favor of whatever is gonna light a fire under somebody. If these diva athletes in the world today wanna think they're the bees knees they need something to keep them humble. I know the 07 Pats said that Belichik kept them humble all the time even to the point that they had shirts made that said "I eat it" referring to the Humble Pie that he served up on a daily basis REGARDLESS of how good they had played the last game. I don't think he really gets loud but I think he can make a guy feel like such an idiot that you would do whatEVER it takes to keep from getting under his crawl. I think our players know Tomlin's policies on things. I'm sure Mendy does. Remember when he fumbled the 2nd time in the Clowns game? He did not pass go. He did not collect $200. He got up and went straight for the bench. That has to let you know that Tomlin had already made it clear what the penalty was. I just wish he had some answer to punish the receivers as harshly too. Although when you are literally out of RBs if you bench your WRs as well I suppose you would just have to go out and take 3 knees and punt then hope to score on d or a punt return and then repeat. Basically like in the Waterboy but in reverse... I think???

Actually, in the Army they're title is Drill Instructor, they are called Drill Sargeants because in the Army you don't call an NCO "Sir". So instead of saying "Sir, yes Sir" you say, "Yes Drill Sargeant".

I absolutely enjoyed that video to no end. Quotes like- "You play to win the game" and "The Bears are who we thought they were so if you wanna crown 'em-crown'em" Then theirs this one this one- "Play......offs ...play.........offs, were just trying to win a game" These have been three of my all time favs. Classic, simply classic

    You sure?
A drill instructor is a non-commissioned officer or Staff Non-Commissioned Officer in the armed forces or police forces with specific duties that vary by country. In the U.S. armed forces, they are assigned the duty of indoctrinating new recruits entering the military into the customs and practices of military life. In the U.S., a drill instructor refers to a Marine Corps Drill instructor. In the Air Force they are known as Military Training Instructors. The U.S. Army refers to them asDrill sergeants. In the U.S. Navy, they are called "Recruit Division Commanders" (RDCs). In the U.S. Coast Guard, they are referred to as "Company Commanders". Outside of the U.S., they are assigned the duty of instructing recruits in drill commands only.
