I know, I get it, starts at the top and Tomlin is at the top, I just think too much is being put on him and the players are being given a pass for being imbeciles. I mean really, does AB need to be told to kick the ball out of bounds? Or just fall on it? The stupid penalties like the ones that keep negating good returns? All the holding penalties? I can't get on Tomlin for that, you know every coach down the line is preaching that to those guys. As for turnovers, if that has do to with scheme and I'm not sure it is, I'm referencing your thoughts from another post here, that won't change until DL retires, no way will Tomlin usurp DL. I think mostly its just that our DB's can't catch. And they are trying to fix the line, no one could foresee our top 2 picks being hurt, and it's more then them, we got guys out, guys always shuffling positions, it's tough like that. And I don't think they are done addressing the line yet either, I think you will see some more high draft choices that go towards that next year.

I think Tomlin can probably prepare his guys better, I'll give you that, and I'm talking about film prep, not rah rah crap, these guys are professionals, they shouldn't need a coach to tell them to get up for a game. Belichick definitely has that over everyone else, he prepares like a mother f--ker

You are 100% right. Antonio Brown shouldn't need to be told to kick the ball out of bounds or just fall on the god damn thing. He should know better. He also shouldn't need to be told to not run backwards. Perhaps that's the problem, perhaps Tomlin has the same attitude. Perhaps Tomlin believes he doesn't need to tell these guys this stuff because they should know better. The problem is, these idiot players don't seem to know better. Our guys come across as complete morons. Perhaps it's time to start from square one. Go back to the basics. Have Antonio Brown spend an entire practice falling on a ball. Have Brown fall on a football 500 times, then have him run 800 yards backwards since he apparently likes to run backwards like an *******.

You're right, I don't think Tomlin will usurp DL, but it's about time he took over this team. He is the head coach and he has a defensive background. I don't care if God himself is our DC, if things aren't working, then Tomlin needs to step in and make sure it works. I just can't accept the same problems year after year. We had losing seasons under Cowher, and I can handle a losing season, it happens to the best of them. What I can't handle is watching a team implode the way we do. Watching our players come into camp fat and out of shape every year. Listening to our guys admit they weren't prepared for a game. That's just unacceptable in week 1, let alone week 14. It should happen once and only once, and then never again. You're right, the players are at fault as they are the ones that need to execute the game plan, but if the problems continue week after week, year after year, you have to look past the players. You can only blame the players so many times before the blame gets redirected to the guy who is supposed to hold the players accountable.

That's fair. This season has definitely been very unpleasant. Like many fans here, I totally look forward to Sundays and watching this team play, and far too many times the games have just been uncomfortable to watch. I mean, no one likes to see a loss but when its just so ugly like it was Sunday, very disheartening. Here's hoping we see not only a win against Dallas but a good solid all around game.

Not sure this is the right thread for my first post, but what the hell here goes. I think one of the big issues this year is leadership, but as much player leadership as coaching leadership. There was a big vacuum when Aaron Smith, Hines, Farrior, and Hoke. All of those guys were strong personalities and strong leaders. That's one of those intangibles that you can't measure. All of those guys commanded a lot of respect from both sides of the ball, and I don't see anyone with the exception of Keisel and Clark, trying to fill those shoes, maybe Pouncey. There's an accountability factor among the players that seems to be missing somewhat. Can't all be Tomlin.

Yes, Brady is a great QB, but his receivers are also a big part on the equation. They get open quickly and he fires the ball fast. Ours do not get open as fast and in the NFL seconds count.

All you do is go around insulting people who don't agree with your dumb little statistics that alarm only a dunce like you because you're too much of a simpleton to realize that upsets happen every week in the NFL. Crawl back to your other **** board would you, you're not going to fit in here, people actually have their own opinions on this board ya freaking commie.

I don't post just read and admire, but as much as I dislike the Pats and Belicheat...the man can coach up his players because he fits a system to the players or players to a system and is forwardly thinking to know when to do which. Just look at Cassel hardly played a down at USC, taken seventh round at 230th, but takes over for Brady in game one of 2008, plays lights out more often than not, wins 10 games and misses the playoffs by a nose. If you're curious you can check out Cassel 2008 at this link. It's a pretty impressive season. Especially as compared to Cassel 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012.

Not to pick nits but they won 11 that year with Cassel as the QB. One of the few 11-5 teams to miss the playoffs.

Well, I guess if there had been 14 or 16 teams in the playoffs, then the Steelers would have had to play the Patriots

I havent been here for a week or so. Also have not read all the post in this thread. Just glanced. However my opinion is the same as my post very early in this thread.

As Bum said of Bear.."He could take hisn and beat yourn. Than take yourn and beat hisn".

Thats Belichick in todays NFL. THE BEST!!

I agree with Myron. I just think that Belichik is a football genius. Also the question was not "would Bill win the Super Bowl?" But just "would Bill have a better record?" and I'd guess that he would. I mean he's used to winning more than 10 games per year right? So is Tomlin but I'm just saying. I don't think you have to LIKE Bill to simply admit that he knows the game of football and he knows EXACTLY what he's looking for in a player. The one thing that would probably drive us CRAZY as Steeler fans though is how he gets rid of guys so frequently. I mean we'd have a guy growing on us only to wake up one morning to find out that he'd been sent to the Rams for a 3rd round pick or something. LOL. That's GOTTA drive Pats fans crazy! I think our jersey sales would CERTAINLY suffer with Bill at the helm. LOL. I always try and buy the guys that are gonna be here but with Bill here you'd never know.

I think that might be part of the issue in this thread ... defining who you think would do a better job is not proclaiming you would want him as the head coach ...

I think Billicheat would win 11+ with this same squad we have in Pittsburgh now even with the injuries ...

I would not want Billicheat as the head Coach under any set of circumstances ....

I didn't know you were'nt a Tomlin fan Myron. I've always felt like I stick out like a sore thumb around here for liking Bill. I can't help it. I just like the guy. I think the ONLY thing he cares about is his team. He has no sentiment for players. You either shape up or ship out. I like that idea. Also he conducted my all time favorite presser in 07 in wk 2. He was being asked NOTHING but questions about the Spygate thing and ALL he would say is "I'm just thinking about the Chargers". I think he said it 17 times! LOLOLOLOL! Then they went out and beat them like a bunch of red headed stepkids! I think when he talks about not looking ahead and preparing and not letting in distractions I think he really means it and I respect that. He's not giving lip service to anyone.
