Outside of Franklin, I knew it well. I went there often after i got my license, the food was OK, but the one worker had the sweetest smile, plus a nice rack and a**. Culinary tastes are much different for a teen than an old man. That sweet girl went to my same class at Vo Tech, no tipping at Bonanza, but she found other ways to get into my wallet, w/o my getting any success in other places lmao.

The Steelers really really wanted to pass Stallworth's tape onto the Browns but some darn intern dropped it and kicked it into the Allegheny River. lol

Wow, to think (reportedly) Noll wand Stallworth in the 1st, but was instead outvoted and they went with Swann. The fact that Stallorth was still available in the 4th...unreal.

It really wasn't his mock draft that was the great resource. He had player rankings at every position with thumbnail bios for each of them. Hell, I actually knew who Merril Hoge was when the Steelers drafted him because I had read Kiper's preview. (If I remember correctly, Kiper correctly predicted that Hoge would be a perfect fit in the Pittsburgh offense at the time.)

And Noll also preferred Robert Newhouse over Franco Harris but had a change of heart (or was convinced otherwise by Mr. Rooney). Can you imagine a Steelers dynasty without Franco Harris and Lynn Swann? Probably would have been 1-2 fewer Super Bowl trophies in the 70s and there may have never been a dynasty. :hmm:

I love to reminisce, yea Newsome was a good back, even Lydelll Mitchell (remember him), but Franco was the perfect back for this franchise. Swann, then to get Stallworth as well..plus a guy named Lambert, who told Swann, HE (lambert) should have went first..lol.

The 1974 Steelers had the best draft and rookie class in NFL history. This is inarguable among the sane. They drafted four players who went to the Hall of Fame (Swann, Lambert, Stallworth, and Webster) and added one more as an undrafted free agent, Donnie Shell. That is just an insane influx of talent that took that roster from very good to all-time special.

It's incredible to me that, in hindsight, that Shell went undrafted. Wasn't there like 15 rounds back then?

It was 17 rounds in 1974. Yeah, it is insane that Shell wasn't drafted. Webster falling to the fifth round made more sense. He was really small for a center, even for the 1970s. He was listed as at about 235 pounds, but he was probably closer to 215 as a rookie. He was listed at 255 by the end of his career, but I'm not sure he was ever really that heavy. .

If I remember correctly, there were five players taken in that draft who went on to the Hall of Fame. The only one the Steelers didn't get went to the Raiders with the pick right before Lambert in the second round. I just looked it up. I'm not sure I'd have been able to guess who it was.

Just watched this video. Pumped me up for what we might do this season. Watch how many smart throws and smart placement of the passes by Kenny on his game winning drives.

OBJ thinking he should get more than 4 million a year, he missed all of last season because of an ACL injury .

You guys think it would be a good move to check out Taylor Lewan's health? He has been shown little interest and he might be able to be had for a very friendly contract. The guy is a very good tackle when healthy.

I thought he was going to retire. He has missed a combined 30 games over the last three seasons. We saw the benefits of good health and continuity on the offensive line last season. Maybe he's worth it if he is willing to sign cheap.

i lived in Baltimore as a little boy. They used to say the play was "hey diddle diddle, Lydell up the middle!' #26, he was a good one too...
