I love Feiler, but I think we are pretty set at Guard ... going into the draft at least.

Unless they want him as a back up swing tackle?

The guy only got a one-year deal? Now I'm even more disappointed that the Steelers didn't get him.

Haeg and leglue weren't here last year. It was Davis and scott. They are not here either though.

Even funnier. Thanks for your help. :)

In all seriousness, I wonder if they will sign an offensive tackle before the Draft? We were Damn Lucky last year with the Health of the Offensive Line, I hope they are not thinking it is going to be the same this year.

I double checked and they drafted two TEs in the 4th round, Kolar and Likely. They already had Mark Andrews. Seems like they’re going TE heavy.

Before the days of instant access sports news, I remember the day the Steelers drafted Rienstra calling our local radio station and asking them if they’d gotten any information across the wire on the first round of the draft and asked who the Steelers pick was. The lady told me John Ryeenstra, lol. I remember thinking “who the crap is that?”. How did we survive before instant access to everything was at our fingertips?

I remember finding out who they took and looking him up in Kiper's draft preview when I go home from school. His predictions were never great, but his books were among the few resources available for the average fan who wanted to know about the guys available for the draft in the 1980s.

They will sign one. They will most likely draft one as well. They will bring in some udfas as well. They at least need them for camp and preseason. Then they have to have one at least for game day. I was hoping Trent scott would be back. He can play tackle and guard on game day. They will have one on the practice squad. With the new rule of having an extra couple of linemen dressed on game day they will get them.

Because I am overly negative. Just want to see some damn meaningful football again and this FA start doesn’t have me excited. Most of this season will be around KP being the guy or not but we still need a better team around him. Draft will be huge.

We already have a better team around him but agreeably it’s not a huge leap

As you say draft this year a tweak next FA period and a good draft 2024 and I think we can be back in the mix

As you say this depends a lot on if KP can be the guy

And every game is meaningful to a Steelers fan

I know you are a Ped U guy but it was nice seeing Pitt back in a tourney game been 7 years. Steelers are falling into that territory it’s been a long time since we really had a contending team. The AFC Championship vs the Pats would have been the closest but that was such a debacle it didn’t feel like it.

Back in the 1960's I had to listen to a small radio station in Butler to hear who the Steelers picked. They would only break in from their regular programming to give a Steeler selection and nothing else. I had to wait until the next day to get the newspaper to see who the rest of the league drafted.

Wow I am so impressed, backwoods Butler got instant updates. We, in the backwoods of Venango County had to wait for the Pony Express to arrive from Pittsburgh. LOL

in the early 70's the teams with the best scouting departments did the best in the draft. The draft was also held much earlier than it is now rewarding those teams that did a good job scouting. No one did that better than the Steelers. Now so much time passes between the end of the season and the draft that almost every team has a chance to at least be competent in picking players. This also contributes to some players flying up the draft board when they may not be the best picks. I remember those good ole days!

I agree. The second half of last season was more fun than I have had in a long time watching the Steelers. Yes it was weaker teams in the league (are we not one also?), but there was improvement. The FA signings so far are not lightning (more thunder), but thats how the Steelers role. The thing that I was surprised at is just hom much depth we really have throughout the team. The whole off season most of the posts have been obvious areas, CB, ILB, T. DL. Some have been addressed, some still lacking, but WR and TE are yet another area. Its not what we have so much, but what is missing. There are players out there, some will be found 2nd tier FA, draft day and UDA, yet possible more after June cuts,

The teams that knew how to “misplace” video for certain players instead of passing it along to the next team did pretty well too. Like the Steelers did with John Stallworth’s highlight tape. ;)

Venango County had the last Bonanza restaurant in the world. I would drive the 35 miles to get the all you can meatloaf there. But now it's closed too.
