Hey, I thought common sense was against the rules on this board?

We do, in fact, need a WR. I bet we go through the draft here.

2005 (won SB) - Ward, Randle El, Cedrick Wilson, Quincey Morgan - Pretty solid bunch. Ward was great and Randle El was a very good slot WR.
2008 (won SB) - Ward, Holmes, Nate Washington - Again, a very solid bunch

We won with good WR rooms too. We can't just ignore the position. What we do here largely depends on how ready we think Austin III is.

Yeah, he's basically a posession reciever, with a 20' catch radius, that could also be your back up Tackle. I'd almost take the guy at 17. Actually, if they did, I'd cry with joy.:yahoo:

The most important thing to this organization moving forward is to develop KFP.

You wanna develop him, you give him a security blanket in the passing game, an unbelievable addition to the running game, and help keeping his jersey clean.

Seriously now.......Seriously......The plays you could run out of those two TE sets. Harris in the backfield, Muth and Washington at TE, with DJ and the freakazoid on the outside. Only Canada could screw that up.

I wouldn’t be thrilled if they took him in the first, but will blow a gasket if they don’t draft him. Heaven forbid he ends up with another afc north team

Do you really think that poster was bothered by the truth or that what he was saying was not only false but almost totally insane?

Are there any big signings on the horizon, they restructured Minkah and cut Jack?

I didn't think we were in a tight bind cap wise going into this. Are Steelers looking to make a splash?

Whining? Complaining sure I know most of you can’t handle the truth and want to go into whatever fantasy Steelers world you live in.

Exactly my thoughts and hopes too!

Aside of his extra line help I am hoping he along with Friermuth can be lined up as a huge target in the slot for the receiving need that we have.

I’m shocked that no other team (including the Pats) have ever tried to replicate the Gronk and Hernandez dominance they had for those few years in this “copy cat” league.

It just always made so much sense to me.

I really try not to trouble myself with the thought process of several posters here.

Just to correct you because you do get confused

One thing I am not is a homer I’m just not whiney or troll for attention

    Everything else is spot on

Agree to a certain extent. Gronk yes, the dude was otherworldly with and without Hernandez. Hernandez was very good, but 1) I think there are a slew of TE’s since who could have stepped into his roll. He was replaceable - but maybe I’m wrong.

But 2) It doesn’t have to be an exact replica of that tandem. Shoot, I’ll take the B-version of that any day. And I believe Muth and hopefully a guy like Washington can be atleast that.

Kinda like boxing or other sports, match ups matter. Most every team is built to try and handle a good TE and WR-group. But I don’t know any team who is built to win against two very good to great TE’s. It’s a match-up nightmare in our division (and all the others) and forces the others to build to stop that. And that isn’t easy.

I just think it would give us a big dynamic wrinkle that sets us apart. In the division, in the redzone, and in the post season.

I’d say go back to that Patriot era and re-run a lot of those plays to start with and tweak to make our own later in the season.

I’m here for all the shade anyone wants to drag me with.
