2 years, 10 Million is the twitter buzz. Love it if that's the real numbers. Half of what it would have cost to keep Sutton.

Unless it means they are spending on an inside linebacker or left tackle, too, I would rather have seen them keep Sutton.

I'd definitely rather have Sutton but at least we aren't left high and dry at all as far as CB.

Definitely NOT a Colbert move here.

Just pray it is only a 1 year or 2 year deal.

If it’s 2/10 versus 3/33, that is a huge difference there.

It’s already been confirmed to be a 2 year deal…several times.

    Saw this...

Peterson has played 12 years in the NFL, including the past two with the Vikings. He made eight straight Pro Bowls to start his career and has 34 career interceptions, including five last year (one off the league lead).

I'm happy with this signing. Sutton was decent but averages 1.33 INT's a season whereas Peterson average 2.83. --- 50.8 Tackles for Peterson Vs. 21 for Sutton. I'll take those results all day everyday.

Peterson may be older but he is definitely a better player than Sutton.

If true, that's similar to the Trubisky deal. Easily manageable.

Yup. If things fall in a way that they draft a cornerback with one of those first two picks, maybe they move on from Peterson after 2023. In the short term, he is likely an upgrade over any of the cornerbacks they had last year on the outside, including Sutton.

That said, they need to sign the help they need at inside linebacker and/or offensive tackle to justify going the cheap route by letting Sutton get away.

He's very durable. Missed 8 games his entire career and has played around 95% of the snaps.

Actually it is a Colbert move in a sense. Colbert would fill the biggest needs with cheaper free agents. He was them able to go into the draft without being forced to take any given position early. Without this signing we HAD to go corner with one of our first 2 picks. With this signing we don't have to reach if the top corners are gone.

We can still go corner if that's who we have highest on the board, but we won't have to reach. One of the few times Colbert wasn't able to fill a glaring need in free agency he was forced to take Artie Burns. We all know how that worked out.

a not as bad but close example is edmunds. We lost out on top safeties we wanted for two drafts and it was a panic pick at that time. The benefits took our guy one pick before us the prior year. There was also another safety a year before or the same year the benefits grabbed ours.

"past his prime" no, he still has upside. now we draft a CB 2,3 rounds and will have a great, if not one of the best, mentors, love the pick up, for real. I really like this, this helps our defense a lot
