Roquan is better, Edmunds wasn't even the best LB on the Bills, the Bills gave Milano a contract extension recently.

People like to say that but he didnt sign for that much with Cincy, no?

I think it was more that they felt they had it covered with the players they had here.

Yeah, five years ago not so much now, he's past his prime.

Well, this was not at all what I was anticipating.... I think it has been a fairly disastrous start to the FA period for us.

In a vacuum I can see the whole Sutton -> Peterson thing. Simply because we had to have Sutton valued much lower than what the Lions paid him, and I haven't seen details on the Peterson deal, but I would imagine he costs half or less than what Sutton cost. Sutton was a very good, but not great player. However, his versatility made him borderline great IMO. Losing him stings. Peterson still played well the past few years, but at his age who knows when he falls off. We could get every ounce of good ball he has left.... or he could be dead on arrival.

It also kinda pigeon holes us into CB at 17. We HAVE to now. Peterson currently has the CB contract that extends the farthest into the future. Let that sink in. I can see us using Peterson to mentor a young player we select early in the draft, but even then we only have Peterson for a couple years... so we will have to address CB in FA or the draft again in another year or two. With Sutton we would've had the extra year plus the ability to extend for another one or two. Idk. Either that's the plan or we just have conceded that we don't know what we are doing at the CB position in the draft and plan on only addressing it via FA moving forward.

Eh a bit of both. He was 6 million a year. Not chump change for a slot corner.

A very good slot corner. Some say the best in the league.

We saw Haden lose it at the end, at about the same age as Peterson.

I agree that he is a very good one. He got paid like it too. They felt like Sutton could play a bigger role and they were right. Only problem is they let that guy walk too.

I doubt a 33 year old Peterson can cover Chase, or Higgins of the Bengals.

Some guys retain their athleticism a bit longer than others though. I'm hoping he has it for exactly another two years.

He isn't. Peterson can still play, but I would have rather kept Sutton.

I like the Peterson move as long as they haven’t overpaid and as long as they draft a CB high. They really need to get younger at that position

I wish they could have kept cam Sutton but he was always going to be sought after by other teams, they should have locked him up last offseason.

People say that because we were adding void years to one years deals. We were tight against the cap

The point being they could have afforded that contract but let’s keep letting talented guys go in the secondary because that has been such a position of strength over the years.

Yes but the contracts these guys are signing are very affordable. They could have Hilton and Sutton in the secondary right now. Would be pretty damn nice.

Good Lord Peterson! Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine Steelers signing him, would have loved this signing more 5-7 years ago, but I'll take it.

Near as I can tell, no one can effectively cover chase..... We just have to get to burrow in time

Meanwhile, that deep inside linebacker pool is emptying out fast. The Steelers need to get off their asses and address the position that has been a disaster since Shazier got hurt.

That was the Covid year the cap was reduced by 16 million, they had no money to pay a slot CB 6 million a year.

Meh, could have worked it out. Colbert said if you want a player bad enough you can find a way to sign them.
