Right now they have a reported 9.9 mill in cap space.

I feel they will resign Sutton and grab a FA ILBer possibly ending Jack's time here.

I will be very surprised if we don’t resign Spillane. I want to resign Sutton (he’s my #1 FA priority), but we’ll see if the reported interest in him by other teams prices him too high to retain.

He deserves the contract and I would like to see him here for 4 more years but I wonder if they resign Sutton and grab a FA ILBer and add Ogunjobi to the mix if there will be enough coin to sign Highsmith. They could wait and franchise him next year and negotiate then. The defense is already breaking the bank in cap space with the big three. They could be in line for restructures though which I can see happening. Add Edmonds if they bring him back although I would prefer Kazee, a vet FA receiver. They could release Jack and save 8 mill, add 2 years to Trubisky and bring the cap number down.

There is only so much dough to go around. Can't sign everybody.

I would like to see Spillane back he did improve last season unlike someone we know.

Teams are garnering interest in Sutton rumor has it, Vikings, Lions and Raiders.

I do not understand why anybody thinks Dupree will be in a position to demand a big contract. Of course, the Steelers would pass if this is the case. They don't need an expensive backup outside linebacker. I think he might have to take a one-year prove-it deal. That is where he could be a fit.

Most of these guys us fans pitch won’t be signed, doesn’t mean it’s a bad idea. Bud would fill a big need.

If the market prices him out of the Steelers range he won’t be here but the market shouldn’t be high for him.

A 1 or 2 year deal would be ideal while drafting one to develop and be ready to step in when Bud leaves. We see what happens when TJ is out, they need to be prepared for that.

i read too that the cat from Minny is available, Thielen. I said late last year - we need a veteran. either one would be great.

then we are done with skill positions, offense.

    build up the big uglies

Well too bad about Cam Sutton, really liked him. Best of luck in Detroit.

Oh hell. Depending on structure, I would have probably have matched that deal (if this is even real). I thought that the legal tampering period started at 4 PM

Ok, I was slightly off on what Hargrave was going to get.

    Sheesh.

Started at noon I think but it’s legit.

I agree that sounds like a contract the Steelers could have done. Significant loss.

Thats a bundle for Grave Digger. Good for him though.

49ers defense should be unreal next year, that D-Line is scary good.

Get your tickets 49ers come to play in Pittsburgh next season. Kenny might be running around a good bit that day.

Wow big loss. Already going into the draft saying they needed a corner...now we need two, and one needs to be an immediate day 1 starter.

I started a separate thread on Sutton, but I will repeat it here. He was supposed to be a priority for them, yet they let him go for what was a reasonable deal. Unless they sign a comparable veteran from another team, that is a significant failure by the Steelers. They can't keep dumpster diving for corners in the modern, pass-happy NFL.

Hargrave was one of the top four or five free agents available. He was always going to get big money. I don't know why anybody is surprised by that.

They need to sign a veteran at the position now. This team just doesn't value cornerbacks enough and they refuse to change no matter how many times it comes back to bite them in the ass.

Don’t players normally cash in on their first dive into FA? Is it common for them to out due that on their 3rd contract?

    He’s also 30 years old. I figured 16 million a year.
