According to Dejan Kovacevic, the Pirates made about 40mm per year with their TV contract. That sounds about what others have estimated.

Will be interesting to see what happens- maybe the teams broadcast and sell separately to cable, streaming, etc?

I'm old enough to remember when the NFL was not nearly as big as MLB. Thus I was raised on the Pirates. I fully understand why they will always suck. MLB is won by the money teams. That said I'd still be bothered if for some reason the Pirates become the Las Vegas Bucs.

I may be off here but didn't the Pirates finish the season with a payroll under 40 million? As a Pirate fan I despise the owner but damn if he ain't one smart money man. Revenue sharing, media contracts, and the people who still pay to watch that **** show pretending to be a MLB team make Bobby boy one rich man.

I agree with that but I believe after Bob's annual salary dump they had a lower payroll at the end of season.

If I read how Spotrac tracks the salaries, these numbers represent what teams actually paid at the end of the year including call ups, demotions, trades, etc...

    I’m actually happy about this

I have DishNetwork and they dumped AT&T Sportsnet so I haven’t been able to watch either the Pirates or Penguins

Although I actually enjoy baseball on the radio it just makes it summer

We will see where they end up. I think the Pirates are going to have an easier time finding a home than the Penguins unless they try to make the move as a pair.

Maybe the Home Shopping Network for the Bucs since it seems they're always selling off the team around mid-year at bargain prices.
