The rookie QB the eagles have actually looks pretty good. Go Philly.

Gotta be honest, I bet on the Bengals to cover the spread. Just don't see the Eagles beating them.

Marshall Faulk really dislikes the Steelers tonight. He loves the Bangles tonight, he loves Dallas over Pittsburgh and finally he predicts Bangles to clobber Pittsburgh and wins the wild card spot. I bet he's wrong on all four counts.

I hope I lose too, but I believe the Bengals will win and I don't bet with emotion. It's not a lot of money anyway, so no big deal if I lose.

Here is what I see as the value of a Bengals loss tonight (besides the fact that watching the Bengals lose is never a bad thing):

The Steelers could lose to the Cowboys, and THEN if they beat the Bengals, they MAY be able to rest their starters in week 17 (yes, even at 8-7).

If the Steelers beat the Cowboys (assuming a Bengals loss to Philly) and then lose to the Bengals (making both teams 8-7), we would be hosed. Why, you ask? Because if that happened, the Ravens would have clinched the division and probably fighting for a #3 vs. #4 seed in that final week against the Bengals. If they were to win and get a #3 seed in that scenario, here's what would happen:

They would probably play Pittsburgh in the first round, and then New England in the second round prior to the AFCCG if they made it that far (which they wouldn't).

If they were to lose and get a #4 seed, they would probably get the Colts and then Houston....PLUS the loss would guarantee the Steelers WOULDN'T be in the playoffs.

In that scenario, their first play from scrimmage would be to run backwards through their own end zone....so would each subsequent play....

Of course, there are other scenarios involving the 5-8 teams winning out (San Diego is the most likely candidate in that regard ironically) and the Jets (6-7 with 3 sort of winnable games), but I don't see them making a huge difference in the end. It would be nice to have that last week be sort of a bye, but that's probably wishful thinking....for now, just thinking of extending the season by at least a week.....

Actually, I would think Cincy WINNING tonight would light a fire under our players since it would create more urgency. Then again, the things that SHOULD incite our players to victory don't seem to, and then when it seems like there's no WAY they can win, they find a way, so who knows? Maybe if the Bengals have to TIE or something....
