Canada has many flaws but he doesn't buy the groceries he just cooks with them, in most cases he wrecks the meal. Gunner and Simms are cheap place holders but very limited skill set. Before the Claypool trade I always thought they should have used Claypool and Pickens outside with DJ in the slot, number 1's and 2's be damned. Put the two big guys outside and force dbl coverage while DJ feasts behind the lb's. Simms, Gunner and Boykin just don't command any type of respect. So any vet they get or wr in the draft had better be a big part of the game plan.

Hardly but even if true wasting a draft pick on the position would not be smart.

why? why would it be a waste if it helps your offense? we need to score. gentry has zero TD's in 4 years and few receptions. zero TD's from our supposed #1 WR. where exactly are these points going to come from? why would it be a waste to have a better blocker and a receiving threat or two from the TE position? two TE sets are pretty common. ours are limited due to our TE's. muth is fine. heyward will be used a little different than last year because of watt hopefully not being re-signed. he has a different skillset anyway than just true TE.

Luxury they can’t afford. Gentry was a project and hes come along nicely and now you want to jettison him for a TE that will take 2 years minimum to make an impact.

Gentry could do more if they had any interest in using him that way. You are advocating for something the Steelers aren’t interested in incorporating into their offense.

I’d rather use the limited draft picks on positions they actually need.

Ok....look people....You for freaking sure have....Muth, DJ, Pickens, Little Heyward, Najee and Warren(that is not counting the backups).....there is only one freaking ball.
We may lose Sutton, Edmunds, Jack, and Bush(you can bet at least two of them are gone)....Yet You people keep going on about adding more to the offense. LoL :lolol:
What the heck. I'm glad Y'all aren't the GM, and owners.

no points being scored. so we lose edmunds and bush. big whoop. it doesn't mean we won't add to the defense but we can't neglect the offense either.

And you think a first year TE drafted in the 6th rd will solve that?

They aren’t drafting a TE. They have Muth and now Heyward and will likely re-sign Gentry. If not him they will find a “dime a dozen” TE in FA.

Says history. When has that been their playbook? You think they will suddenly be the NE Patriots with Gronk and Hernandez if they take your guy? :bscow:

    LoL.
    OK....let's make this simpler.
No matter if they were good , or not.....they have to be replaced.
While everyone is complaining about drafting some offensive weapons that will have to share a ball with for sure starters like .....Najee, Warren, DJ, Muth, Pickens.
Yeah let's worry about that. LoL.
Let's worry about getting a guy we hope can fit in on offense for a few plays a game, and not holes for starters that We will need on Defense on every D play.. LoL

not I, I am 100% fine with an all D draft. Certainly no WR, that is my big point.

our defense led the league in turnovers. warren isn't a starter. DJ, muth and pickens were part of this low scoring offense. having another good blocking guy, should help najee, and if that same guy can get some YAC yards and be another threat to actually get into the end zone then why wouldn't you want that?

we have a couple of young LB'ers. sign sutton and kazee back. maulet played very well for us last year. norwood was hurt a lot but if he's back we should be in pretty good shape back there. nothing is saying we can't add a corner there are many very good ones in this draft. helping the offense also helps the defense. we got back one of our draft picks from last year in roche already. he's like a bonus pick with some seasoning. robinson should take another step forward at ILB. elijah riley is a young guy i really like at safety. we have a couple of other LB'ers as well that may work into the rotation. emeke egbule for one.

i showed you that our current offensive coordinator does use two TE sets. it is also effective. a TE helps the offensive line and the run and passing game also. one that can get into the actual end zone besides just being a blocker helps the offense score. is this so hard for you to understand?

Never said they don’t use it at all but won’t be a part of their offense like NE was using two TE sets.

And if they do plan to incorporate it more then it makes zero sense to let Gentry walk and bring in a rookie that they will get at the back end of the draft.

You do understand how hard it is for rookie TE’s to adjust to the NFL right? Yeah, a rookie TE will solve their scoring woes next year. It didn’t have anything to do with Canadas Mickey Mouse offense, a rookie QB and rookie WR.

    Again ....LoL.
We are losing at least 2 starters off that D.....maybe more. We aren't losing any starters on the Offense. Why is this hard to understand.

So basically we are learning what I already knew. DJ is not a #1. He is an ok #2 certainly nothing to get excited about. This post has not aged well and it will only get worse.
