How in the world does Amos get a free pass from everyone? For the entire year, our special teams have been the worst in the entire league. I don't have the stats in front of me, but we have to be the most penalized punting unit in the league. Regularly, we have at least two punt coverages or punt returns flagged for holding or blocking in the back. In fact, in one game earlier, we had no less than 6 penalties on punt teams, both return and cover teams. We can't run back a kickoff for our lives, and last week we started inside the 20 on two occasions. Our punter is the worst in the league, and most of the time when we need a big punt from him, he punts it 35 yards. We have trouble on kickoff coverage, we have trouble on kickoff return, we do not return punts well at all, we do not cover punts well, our punter is awful, and we're the only team in the entire league to have not one, but two punts blocked this year. Tomlin actually promoted this fool, after firing our main coach just before the regular season started. How in the world is this going under the radar?

    I don't know, I like his cookies.

But I don't think anything like this is "under the radar", just that we're stinkin' it up in so many other aspects that maybe this isn't the # 1 issue right now. Although it was bad against SD.

Probably because folks don't tend to know the coaches after HC, DC and OC, and are happier to stop at Tomlin.

The penalties on ST are getting ridiculous, though. Not a lot of point having a Chris Rainey if every time he runs more than ten yards somone has to hold.

Remember Tomlin fire the STs coach before the season. So it is on Tomlin. Either this is his team or it isn't. He promoted Amos and they are probably the worse STs I've ever seen in almost 35 years of watching football. Every time a returner gets more than 10 yards I see yellow. They lost a game against the rats because of a punt return TD. Just absolutely horrible.

As bad as it looks now, I think it was worse under Ligashesky. That being said, I'd doubt we've moved up much relative to other teams so unless 'the standard' is the REALLY God awful performance we had under Ligashesky, I wonder what we're really doing to improve...

I don't see Tomlin addressing the issue what so ever in press conferences. If he's addressing it at headquarters, it sure is not showing on the field. Amos is his boy, and he acts like this abortion isn't even happening every Sunday.

Not necessarily sticking up for Amos or the special teams. But the whole deal did get dropped in his lap at the last minute. So I can't hang it all on him at least not now.

Far enough, but if he ain't got what it takes to be the ST coach, and they give it to him because he was handy, that ain't his fault. That's on his boss.

:this!: It's pretty bad when on every kick return or punt return everybody in the stadium is looking for yellow on the turf. ;)
