Winning post for this thread. Nothing, nothing looked dynamic or confusing to the other teams defenses. Nothing. We lack crispness, imagination and we don't have the power OL to overcome crappy scheming.

Now, that can change if the draft and FA focus on immediate improvements (no projects) with the OL (ILB more dire and DT/DE needs youth/strength/talent infusion)

Bengals offensive scheme is far superior granted a lot of that could just be how good smoking Joey B is. If he stays healthy it will be very difficult for us to win this division in the next decade.

Their D is also solid with good coaching as well.

Stats shmats. Until they can figure out a better downfield passing attack and red zone efficiency oh and score more the point is moot. And now they bring back Canada. But lets hire a offensive consultant/passing game guru. Why not just hire a competent offensive coordinator?

The running game did improve which rumor has it Meyer had a hand in. Also Pickett got better as the season wore on.

We shall see how it plays out in July.

For now i'm looking forward to the draft with the Khan/Weidl tandem.

My comment was an incomplete thought that I was dovetailing to my original response, which was basically a different way of stating the comment you stated, which garnered my partial response(incomplete thought).
    Apologies.

Agreed, but self destructive penalties also held us from scoring in the Redzone this Year...., and You know that is a big No No.

You do know that the Bengals run one of the fewest diversity of plays in the NFL. They are a team that believes in quality, and not quantity. Qb helps a lot.

I'd love to know your source on that.
A large, complex playbook isn't needed. It's the timing of the plays as well as the design of the plays that matter more. As you said, quality, but I'd like to throw timing in there as well. But even with a large playbook, the whole thing isn't going to be used in a game. A lot of coaches will get down to like 30 plays. But the formation for each can change, 3 step drop vs 5 step drop, etc. So how the playbook ends up getting utilized during a game isn't often public information, at least not whole a coach is still actively a coach. So I'd love to see your source just to see what it says.

Joe is good, but didn't it take them till the last game of the season to clinch the division.....against a beat up Raven team.... Who clearly outplayed them wildcard weekend

Who honestly saw the 7-2 finish coming because I didn't.

If you can't be optimistic going into next season when can you be?

This team is a still a good way off KC and the Bengals, the clear elite of the AFC, does anyone think we couldn't possibly hang with the rest of the AFC next season, if KP isn't a mirage? if the off-season pans out? we don't lose Watt for half a season?

We were a couple of FG's off the post-season this year...that's all one crappy Jets team, beat by a team scoring 9 points.

There's a lot of work to do but how many teams do you think have waived bye bye to a HOF QB, and appeared to have turned it round so quick? Where are the Saints right now? where are the Colts? GB still got AR and still can't win a playoff game...

You hear Romo say that yesterday? They let Smoking Joe pretty much go through his progressions quickly.

Who are they? I only hear commentators wrongly call him "Joe Cool". There's only 1 Joe Cool and, he's the REAL GOAT. Played for the 9ers.
    There's already a "Smokin' Joe"
