Play calling is easy when you have that offensive line and skill players.

I watched the 49ers game with some Iowa State fans(not something I like to do often) and even they were picking apart Purdys throws to start the game. He was rather inaccurate but he gets a lot of help from a stellar squad around him. I can't speak to the game as a whole as I was hosting a football party and wasn't watching closely but regardless, it's utterly ridiculous to put this dude in Brady status this early in his career.

Anchored by left tackle Trent Williams
    • 2× First-team All-Pro (2021, 2022)
    • Second-team All-Pro (2015)
    • 10× Pro Bowl (2012–2018, 2020−2022)

Great trade by 49ers to get him
On April 25, 2020, Williams was traded to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft and a third-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft

That is not what I'm saying at all. I think Kenny is our QB of the future

Which is why Rooney needs to move heaven and earth to bring in an OC who knows how to design and implement a Sunday playbook and boot the one who runs plays from a Saturday JUCO playbook. If Pickett were being coached up by Shanahan, we’d be hearing that he’s the second coming of Joe Montana. Instead, Pickett’s success has been in spite of his OC and not because of him. Firing Canada and bringing in a REAL OC is the most important off-season move the Steelers can make and so far it looks like it’s going to be status quo with Canada inexplicably retaining his job.

He is just average, yet he was successful in that offense. I find it funny how you reached for that particular statistic as a way to try to ignore that Garoppolo's statistics were very good during that streak of victories before he got hurt. Also, it's not as if all those long scores are Purdy going down the field. The touchdown to Samuel yesterday was a short throw followed by a long run.

Seriously, look at a highlight package of Purdy's touchdown passes. There are so many wide-open throws. The 49ers have a dominant offensive line, a great group of weapons, and play design that is out of the Steelers' league.

Purdy looks good, but he has a hell of a lot more help than most.

I swear some of you must get most of your football knowledge from playing a ****ing video game. PA is not a simple thing to just throw into an offense. The fact that it was reported that Tomlin simplified the offense at the mid way point (which was noticeable) it's not surprising that they didn't' try to implement PA. I'm not defending Canada, I would like him replaced. However, to think that PA is this simple thing that can just be throw in during the season is asinine.

Play action should be a fairly simple thing for an NFL offense. It’s also pretty dang effective when the running game is working well like ours was the second half of the season. PA seemed to be underutilized in our offensive scheme and that’s why every catch by our receivers seemed to be a contested catch with little opportunity for YAC.

Maybe the dumb asses could have incorporated PA during the preseason?

Is your football knowledge telling you that a professional football team has no PA as part of their plan that they practice during the offseason? They don't really practice PA and suddenly, in mid season, they wake up and go "lets run PA"? Then it takes the HC to come in and say "wait a sec... it's week 10, we've never run PA, so we suck at it, so lets remove it". Is that what your football knowledge is saying happened with steelers?

Assuming it is true that Steelers, an NFL caliber pro team, simply are too useless to run PA, then it just points to how useless the OC is....

I know what PA does for an offense with a good running game, it's not simple thing for an offense to implement though. There is a ton of language/terms, communication, and assignments that need to be learned and implemented. Stuff that is difficult to do week to week when that time is for game planning, not really learning a new offense. Learning a new offense is what the offseason and camp are for.

If we didn’t have PA firmly imbedded in our offensive scheme from the early days of training camp knowing how much we were going to rely on the run this season, that’s grounds enough for Canada’s immediate dismissal!

Not every NFL team has PA in it's offense, and some only have very little of it. I am a proponent of PA, I want them to run more of it and this offseason and camp I'm hoping whoever the OC is will have PA as part of their offensive scheme.

What the Steelers did in the mid point of the season wasn't an expansion or change to the offense, it was a reduction which can be done. They removed a lot from this offense and broke the play calling down to a handful of schemes they already knew and play variations based off of that.....that's all they did. One of the biggest things removed was most of the motions and jet sweeps.

Steelers do not fire coaches at the start or middle of the season. Never have, never will. Can't even blame Tomlin as this rule dates back long before he was part of the organization.
