I apologize for that garbled mess. Apparently auto correct went nuts on me.

So we are getting another year of this BS high school offense?? Good luck scoring enough points to hang with the elite teams. I figured this would happen when they finished on a winning streak

The HS Offense can be high tech and cutting edge .. We need to Chess play it and add all the tweaks and designed attacks to it .. Matt will need some help and I hope they get him someone good .. Play Action is a big key and designing routes that clear out instead of clutter ... Eveb if Canada wants to keep running Mesh and Tier concepts the seperation has to be much greater in the NFL as the Defenders can come off and cover much more ground..

For example in HS you PA 33 Dive then boot right back side WR runs a drag at 10 the back side TE runs a dump route at 4 or 5 the playside Z runs a 15 yard stop or so and the playside X runs a 8 to 10 yard out ..Fine and good for the HS level horrible for the NFL..

That BS WR should be dragging at 15 the TE should be at 5 the Z should run a streak or clear out and the X a 25 or 30 yard come back route .. This creates the space needed on the Pro Level , you might even have the TE sit on the dump then head up the seam creating even more space..

My point is it can be done it just has to be done much different than the HS level.. This was our approach if we had good QB'S we wanted him to see his elgibles but give them plenty of space on the route trees...

Picket was pretty terrible with play action this year. 60 attempts averaged like 4yds per attempt

He actually threw that many? That seems high based on what we've seen.

Look at some of those throws. The 49ers are scheming guys wide open, especially Kittle. The Steelers just don't do that enough.

    me too

the standard is the standard....mediocrity, but no where near elite, nowhere near a threat to score 30 week in and week out.

Isn't he retired? There is no reason for him to care about clicks any longer. The guy has about 40 years of experience covering that organization. Few people outside the organization have a better understanding of how they operate.

Ray Fittipaldo is saying 80-20 Canada is gone. They must be aware that they don’t fire coaches so maybe they are getting some good intel.

In fact, in his chat someone mention that Canada is under contract and Ray said it’s not unheard of to fire coaches.

Nor firing coaches is the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. If someone deserves to be fired, you don't keep them around because they're still under contract. Like is that a money saving move or something? I've never heard anything so ridiculous.

The Steeler way isn't necessarily the right way. If they don't think Canada is the man for the job, it would be incredibly stupid to bring him back.

Coaching contracts aren’t the same as players contracts though. They still have to pay the coach if they fire them and as one beat writer put it, the Steelers aren’t paying someone to sit on their couch.

They’ll take away some of his responsibilities and bring someone in to help.

But listening to the chatter on this one, they may actually fire him. Ray thinks we will know by the end of next week. Or maybe it was the end of this week, don’t remember.

I agree suck it up and eat the contract and bring in a new OC. If I’m a vet like cam with only so many years left I don’t want a band aid approach. Bringing somebody to help is already acknowledging the problem. Get rid of Canada and bring in a top OC. Don’t become the pirates and be cheap.

    he was.

he gets off to slow starts. passes sail, seems to not get focused until it is almost too late. First half vs. Ci

Speculation on my part... If Canada is fired I see us going after a Frank Reich; if Canada is retained I see us getting Joe Brady, Bills, as the pass game coordinator/assistant head coach.

I already said what I think will happen. They will “Butler” him but several beat writers put the odds at pretty good they move on from him.

I’m just wondering why he is there today, exit interview or letting him go.

Being that it’s after 5pm eastern on a Friday we would have heard by now if he was fired. As for the beat writers it’s the off-season they’ve got come up with something to write about and anything related to Canada being dismissed will garner views
