Looks like there will be at least 4 former first round inside backers set to become free agents.

    1. Tremaine Edmunds BUF (probably will get like $12 million/year)
    2. Roquan Smith BAL (probably will get $15 million/year)
    3. Leighton Vander Esch DAL (no idea what he’s worth)

    4. Rashan Evans TEN (no idea on him either)

There are really no exciting names on the list for other positions of need like CB, OL, or SS.

They may be interested in Right Tackle Mike Mcglinchey SF so they can move on from Chuks if he doesn’t re-sign with the Niners. I’d rather pay Mcglinchey than give $10 million to Chuks again.

Based on the free agent market they will need to address the holes at CB, LG, LT, and DT in the draft.

I’m still holding out hope that JJ Watt comes out of retirement to play a year or two with his brothers. Half joking here, because of all the sets of brothers we have, BUT he could probably give us two good years as a rotational piece like Alualu did before he got hurt.

Do those teams let any of them walk?

If any maybe Vander Esch, but only because of injury history, but it is sort of buyer beware.

Yeah good point. This is based on who is scheduled to become free agents. They all may be re-signed.

I’m jumping the gun for sure. And posting too much probably. I just wasn’t ready for the season to be over yet I think.

I'm feeling the wasn't ready for the season end part. I don't think they would have been all that competitive in the playoffs, but i still wanted to see it.

I disagree. I thought Chuks played fairly well. We can’t afford to have Pro Bowlers at every position.
The draft is pretty weak at DL and OL. As a result I think we should go for a DL in free Agency. With that being said I don’t believe we have the cap space to sign Sutton, Edmunds and a top level DL and ILB in Free Agency. I would love Roquan Smith but if you can get a Daron Payne and draft a Drew Sanders at ILB I would prefer that route. If Buffalo is letting Tremaine walk there must be reason. I don’t think he ever lived up to their expectations. Vander Esch is a glorified Spillane only more expensive. I just don’t really like the ILB options in free agency outside of Roquan Smith and I just think he is gong to be too expensive for the Steelers.

if we got any of those top 3, it would send a message that we are trying to win again.

but - we will wallow, grab some 2nd stringer in week 2 or 3 of FA, build thru the draft and finish with 9 , 10 wins again.

No go big or go home around here....

Ravens have big $$ set aside for Roquan. But why would he want to stay there? Franchise Tag will be used on Lamar. Buff has problems - paying BIG BUCKS for offense. as WE KNOW, you can't pay everyone!

You always want to be careful of paying high dollar Free Agents.
You can end up with "The Billionaire's Yacht Club" aka Washington.
There are contracts they just cannot live up to.

I'd prefer to work it for young players and pick blue chips in the draft.
There are times when you could pull the trigger on a nice deal though...
    Buyer Beware sort of thing.

Are we trading for JJ Watt? I highly doubt that.

    Yes.
I just refer to the old adage "Buyer Beware" - I've been to the aforementioned yacht club. a lot.
Also of note, I would like to see if we could grab a shutdown corner in FA.....

Question: 1. Tremaine Edmunds BUF (probably will get like $12 million/year)

Coming off his option year, so Buffalo would need to use the Franchise Tag to bring him back. Isn't that like $20 million?

it's the age old dilemma - have shut down corners or the best (one of the best) front 7 in the league. I want the best front 7. Go with the draft and our current young corners. we signed that cat from Buff, he is 1 starter, sutton is another, Witherperson, we have a few others. get to the QB and your don't need shut down corners as badly.

we don't have to trade, he is retiring, correct?

i have no interest in giving anything for him via trade.

He’s under contract through next season with the Cardinals. If he decides to come out of retirement, he’ll either have to play for the Cardinals or be traded.

I doubt Lamar will play for the franchise tag

He will pull a LeVeon and kill his career first

Hopefully Ravens sign LJ long term. His contract would max out their cap for years. Lamar is overrated by the sports media, IMO.

Witherspoon is terrible and Sutton is an unrestricted free agent. They need to keep Sutton or sign at least one starting-quality free agent cornerback.

This is pretty much what happened with Baltimore and Flacco and it really bit Baltimore in the ass

    I’m hoping for deja vu
