Congrats on Tomlin for extending his NHALS streak...impressive second half record.

That said, was anyone convinced this team was going to win a playoff game? I say no.

Therefore no playoffs means a higher draft slot for next year's draft. Get some OL and next year with Kenny's growth this team can control its own destiny to make the playoffs.

It’s NOT a good thing. There’s a lot of youth on this team, including our QB. Getting a game of playoff experience for him would have meant far more than a couple of draft slots.

Cannot believe I am sorta agreeing with the OP- but, let's face it. They would be getting slammed by Buffalo next week. Whether or not that playoff experience would be a boost for the team is debatable. From a personal point of view, I had no stomach to sit through that sort of beating.

Let this season sit nicely beside 2000 and 2013, both years were similar. Started poorly, turned it around and were playing well at the end, did not get the help they needed but the next season was much better.

If they had only drafted Willis they would've made the playoffs.

Exactly. Not sure what value there would be in getting curb stomped by the Bills in the WC round. It might even hurt our players (injuries) or derail the rising confidence of KP.

The Steelers extended their 19 year streak.....not just Tomlin's.

Not sure I agree that we'd get destroyed in Buffalo. You are basing assumptions on past disasters.

It's based on the realistic odds of the Steelers winning the Super Bowl this year. I can't see us getting past KC or Buffalo...even if everyone was at full health. And it looks like Muth might have torn his ACL today.

Young players gaining playoff experience is way more important than picking a spot or two higher.

Today's game was a must-win and essentially like a playoff game. How would playing another game this week that was also must-win be any different?

Now if you're arguing that going on a deep playoff run of 3-4 games would be great experience, then I'd agree. But we would get annihilated by the Bills...they would put up a 50 burger on us right now.

You assess "realistic odds" at the very beginning of the season. If you think they have no chance at the Super Bowl, would you openly hope for them going 0-17?

This isn't a video game. You want to play as long as you can as there are intangible benefits that will yield dividends next year and beyond.

    A) You can never gain enough experience
    B) Regular season game is not a playoff game no matter how big a game it is

It is different. And the more a team gets to play while they are on a winning streak, the better. That experience is worth far more than a couple of pick spots as has been said.

I would have liked to see how much this team and Kenny had progressed since earlier this years 38-3 loss

Curbstomp? Did you watch Bills/Patriots game? I will give the Bills the benefit of the doubt on their hard week but that game changed on like 2 STs plays and an opportunistic defense. Allen looked out of sorts most of the game.
