That has more to due with mandatory safety stand-downs.

There was questionable language in there for sure. Like saying Hamlin wasn’t expecting it. That implies Higgins did something wrong. It’s stupid to say Hamlin wasn’t expecting that. He’s a football player, of course he was.

When you take in to account Barts history, it’s easy to see he was blaming Higgins for it.

Regardless whether he meant to blame him or not, Bart has been around long enough to know that would open a **** storm. He should have chosen his words more carefully and made it clear in no way was he blaming Higgins. Now Higgins is under fire by a bunch of rabid fans.

The effective, fervent PRAYER of a righteous man avails much.
    James 5:16(B)

I do not claim to know the mysteries of God or prayer, but I do know that literally millions of people across the nation have been praying for this young man. God hears and answers prayer.

I'll give you an example. In a training scenario with the Navy, any accident or safety rule break results in the pause of training everything stops.

If we're actually in a real situation, that's not happening. We're going to assess what happened and stress safe operations and continue on!

Wasn't Bart Scott that broke Ben's nose and didn't even get fined for it?

That was Haloti Ngata. Scott was the one that put the vicious blind side hit on Ben the most savage hit Ben ever took in his career. Scott said that he couldn't believe it when Ben got up and continued to play.

Pretty amazing considering the circumstances. The attention he received in an emergency was top notch and immediate. Not everyone is that fortunate.

They should turn off all the machines he's connected to then and just rely on prayer...

As I said earlier, he's so lucky. Even with all those professionals there, it takes times to assess and then get the AED on him. In that time, brain death is very possible. The kid is so lucky.

Hopefully there's no lasting damage to his heart or lungs. That probably isn't known just yet.

Out of sight out of mind. When the average person dies, they do so away from the public eye. They typically die in their own home or hospital. People generally don't have their heart stop on national TV. That's the difference.

As for the league shutting the game down. It would be awfully hard to immediately go back to work if you just witnessed your co-worker getting CPR done on them. Doesn't matter what your job is.

Also, the league didn't shut the game down. The players and coaches did. The league had not choice but to go along with it.

That's also why the story has been so big, the reaction of everyone on the field. These guys play a dangerous game. I think most of them put that aspect of it out of their minds when they play. They would have to. That moment made them face it and I'm sure many of them were freaked out. Add to that how close these guys can get because they spend so much time together and you've got a pretty traumatic event.

The phrase I've heard is that he is "neurologically intact." I think much of that is based on him interacting and asking questions (with pen and paper) that show he is aware of what is going on around him. Supposedly, the first thing he asked was if the Bills won the game.

I think he is going to have to be more fully awake, off the breathing tube and whatever pain medication he might be on, before they are sure that there is no neurological damage at all. I imagine they haven't even been able to fully test all of his motor functions yet.

This is not a board for religion but I know what you mean. I like to remind people that the Germans said they heard the Jews praying as they poured the gas in. Science is prayer.

That is all from me on the subject and if I offended any religious posters I deeply apologize.

I read that the medical staff is trained to specifically look for this. Makes sense as there is plenty of documentation where baseball players or lacrosse players have died after being hit in the chest with the ball.

I'm so happy prayer works for you. Wish it worked for the Jews during their terrible times. I guess it's possible that magic guy picks and chooses. I've never talked to a dead person but for the sake of those who believe in an after life, I am rooting for you.

Actually we never die, we are matter. Matter doesn't die it just changes shape.
