Outcome of this may end up becoming Steelers related due to the residual effects. Seeing a lot of chatter regarding 8 playoff teams in the AFC.

Adam Schefter is reporting that if the Bills and Chiefs play for the AFC championship it will be at a neutral field. The Chiefs will be the #1 seed if they beat the Raiders on Saturday.

This will help the Steelers. That means if the Steelers beat the Browns then if the Bills beat the Pats then the Steelers are in no matter what the Dolphins do. If the Dolphins win then they are the 7th seed and the Steelers 8th. I doubt though if the league will actually go with 8 playoff teams. They don't have a whole lot of time to decide these things as the NFL games this weekend start in 48 hours.

Another thing i just read is if it comes to a tie, give one team the option of homefield or a bye. The other team gets the other..IDK how they determine the one to choose..coin toss??? Interesting situation,

I heard them discussing that on 93.7 The Fan. The Chiefs would get to make the call as they are the defacto #1 seed. The consensus was that they would take the bye and rest their players and hope the Bills got knocked off along the way and then the Chiefs would regain the home field for the AFC championship. The team getting screwed the most is the Bengals. If they would have won that Monday night game against the Bills then they had a shot at the #1 seed but fate intervened.

The bye would be the smartest choice IMHO.

They've done coin toss for draft picks. So I'm guessing it'll happen again.

NFL will have to develop a rule for just in case something like this happens again. They need to say, "first we would be very sadden if a situation like this happens. But we need to address what happens".

Do you tell the teams they have to be forced to play the next day regardless, for a 1 PM game? Do you say that whoever had the lead at that time, wins? Or results in a tie?.... now, obviously if it's before a bye week for both teams, things can be moved around for it to work in a rematch.

But also let's be real. If 2 or more players have cardiac arrest in the next 2 years in any sports team. We won't have a care about post season discussions, due to we need to address the situation of what in the world is going on.

    Who gets the bye week?

I still say if Kansas City wins on Saturday, the Bills will sit their starters for Sunday's game letting the Patriots advance to the playoffs. This would give the Bills starters basically a bye week before the playoffs start.

Bills did not hold practice yesterday.
In the meantime, both the Patriots and Bills will hold meetings Wednesday; with the Patriots participating in practice, and the Bills holding a walkthrough.

The line opened at Bills -9
    Today -7.

I think the betting line will be the best indicator if the Bills are going to play their starters; if this number falls off a cliff, or the Patriots are suddenly favored you know that Vegas has inside info on what the Bills are planning to do on Sunday. Right now I would say Vegas is still betting that the Bills Starters play.

I bet the ravens are pissed. This now, hands the AFC North title to the Bengals.

The Bills will have essentially already have had a bye week by only playing a quarter of football the other week...does the team want to essentially have 2-3 straight weeks of bye time??

The emotional stress I’m sure far outweighs any extra time they’ve had off.

If Steelers make it, this might be the most unusual path to making the playoffs then I can recall can recall

Apparently they are still contemplating playing the game as of my time. There's a lot of things that are being put out there that are just rumors. I guess we just need to wait and see.

Only if they go by wins. They're also considering going by win percentage. Buffalo is 1 seed if they do that and they beat NE.

If they go with the no Bye and add one more team, the Bills have no incentive to play starters against NE. The Bengals have no incentive to play starters against Baltimore either now, because they've clinched the division already.

I do agree that in some way only playing 9 minutes of a game kind of works into a DeFacto bye week for the Bills and Bengals anyway. (Even dealing with the emotional side of it) Couple that with not needing to win in week 18, you're getting guys 2 weeks of recovery right before the playoffs.

If the Bills have nothing to play for we are in trouble.

If the Patriots beat the Bills, they clinch the playoffs. I'm not sure the Bills will do the Patriots any favors.
