James Washington released by Cowboys if he clears waivers he is free to sign with any team....

Could a return be in order???

But, we maybe only have one week left in our season.... so maybe not....

I like the guy, but who’s the odd man out if we sign him? He’s not beating out DJ and Pickens. Sims, Boykin and Olszewski are also major contributors on Special Team.

no spot for him here. Is our limited passing attack due to Kenny and Matt - or do these other 3 not have the ability to be contributors regularly in that area?

my guess is that the game still moving fast for Kenny. He looks for 19, 14 and 88 (and 22) - and then gets dizzy. that pass to Sims, however - was MIRACULOUS!!!

How did a thread about James Washington turn so quickly into criticism of Kenny Pickett?

I can't see them signing Washington right now unless it is to the practice squad. I wouldn't mind seeing them bring him back to compete for a job in 2023.

I will say I'm kind of impressed how Sims has come into the role of a pass catcher...

He still scares me on Punt Returns.... he looks like he always is gonna muff one....

I am going to assume he is not fully recovered from his foot injury, Broke his foot in training camp and didn't return to the team until week 14.

I was also surprised he only signed with Dallas for $1.18 million. You think we could have afforded that price Tag for a WR that already knows the playbook.

Your post reminded me of something that happened years ago in an Applebees. Turns out the two BIG guys sitting behind us had tried to get on to the Eagles but didn't make it. I always remember the one guy saying he didn't realize that the Pro game is much much faster then College.

I dont think it was affording or not...the player is a FA and can decide to go where he wants. Have no idea if the Steelers were interested, the small contract is likely the vet minimum, so doubtful his agent got many offers.

Did not work out for him, but at least he is closer to the home ranch if its time to begin his lifes work.

They didn't use him when he was here! With Sim's emergence I can't even see it

I always liked him, but he is another contested catch guy that struggles to get open. I think we need more of a quick twitch type that can get open. Surely there is a spot somewhere in the
    NFL for him though.

Then we found out he really wasn't that much of a contested catch guy. I'm glad to see he was still in the league, hope he sticks around somewhere (else).

JW wasn't a slot guy which is where the Steelers could use help, he would be stuck behind Diontae and Pickens on the outside.

Kenny Pickett mentioned last week that he is excited about a healthy Austin being added to the team next year. He said his speed is off the charts.

Maybe Boykins because Austin will replace Olszewski

Boykin just cannot get onto the field, as a WR. I live in B'More - could not get much done here and apparently, neither in Pittsburgh.

He was really unfortunate with the timing of that injury. The Cowboys presumably signed him because Gallup was due to miss the early part of the year, so JW would have started if he didn’t get hurt. With Gallup coming back and TY Hilton added to the roster he became surplus to requirements.

I don’t see why the Steelers would want him back, especially with Austin hopefully in the mix for 2023.

He is a decent #3/4 from what we have seen, hopefully he gets a shot somewhere else

He's been tainted by the Dark Side and no time for quarantine. Besides, at this point, if things aren't really broken, and we're on a win streak, why try and fix. KP is by now getting some mojo with his WRs, why throw in a wrench? Nothing against JW, but not now. JMO>

    Sign him, sign everyone.

they won’t pick him up with his contract, so he would have to clear waivers first. After that, if he would sign on the cheap, then yes. Not many receivers can pick up Canada’s complicated offense given a whole off season.

Back to reality, if you can give him a contact that doesn’t hurt the team, then nothing to lose by it. If he wants to test the market, that’s on him.

Boykin is a solid special teamer. He’s today’s version of Darrius Heyward-Bey. I don’t think Washington plays special team.

Huh? He's still getting through his reads surprisingly quick for a rookie. Every QB coach I've seen doing film on him says the same thing. He's a half a tick off on a few as far as anticipation, but he's definitely reading the field and making throws average NFL QB's can't. Where does he land ultimately? I don't know and he's got his issues, but if he's playing better than average now, we can expect him to be a good to great QB in the future.

That throw to Sims was a beauty, but if he had time he had a TD on the outside. Probably leaves too much time on the clock for Baltimore though.

He doesn't and that's probably why he was let go in Dallas as well. You can't be WR4-5 and not play ST. You better be balling out on ST to keep your jersey on gameday.

Wait! I thought Tomlin sucks because he wasted James Washington!?!? I thought keeping Ben too long ruined James Washington’s potential HoF career!?! I thought the Steelers did James dirty but wasting his talents!?!?

Could it be that he just sucks? Could it be that once again the fans were…..wrong?

    lol
