After reading, I hate to sound critical... but I get a lot of those.
    My bad. Sorry.

He is in the hands of the professionals. I hope for the best for Hamlin. What a tragic and unfortunate situation for him.

I said ok because he is alive. I’d say he’s doing well when he goes home and he’s doing great when he’s fully recovered and back living he’s life independent of medical care. Maybe your idea of “ok” is a bit different but this is how I view things.

I believe I also said he’s ok, but still in critical care so it should have been clear I wasn’t suggesting he’s completely healed and good to go the rest of his life .

How could anybody watch that and not realize the extent of the injury? They performed CPR on Hamlin on the field.

Somebody screwed up. The story about them telling the teams they had five minutes to get ready and start playing again didn't come from nowhere. Say what you want about Joe Buck, but he didn't make that up. Neither did Lisa Salter. They are both too damn good at what they do for that.

I have no doubt that it was the coaches who saw that the players were in no condition to continue and protected their guys. I'm aware that there is some speculation involved, but that speculation fits what we all saw and read last night. Hell, I read a report that the Bills flew/are flying home as planned. They didn't even stick around to try to play the game today, though some team personnel stayed with Hamlin.

The league tried to do what it has done in the past when players were paralyzed during the game. We saw it when Ryan Shazier was hurt in that very stadium. (Shazier even went to the same hospital where Hamlin is now.) The did the same thing with Dennis Byrd and Mike Utley. They didn't realize this was an entirely different situation. This isn't a young man hoping to walk again. This is a young man fighting for his life.

I don't follow. You don't expose your sources, I'm fine with that as long as I know.

Yeah, he’s far from ok. How many minutes he was without a heartbeat is going to determine what kind of recovery he has.

Have to tip your cap to the medical personnel on that field, they were all over this.

Absolutely must give credit to the medical staff for the immediate care to hat was given. They say for every min the brain is without blood flow the more lasting neurological damage occurs. His football career is over, which means his dream and hopes to have that generational wealth type of 2nd contract is gone changing the course he was hoping and desiring for his family. Now the prayer is can he have a normal life moving forward.

Wishing the best for Damar and his family!

I was shocked when I saw they were doing CPR on the field.

I heard the same thing last nite But Troy Vincent, former player and current VP of NFL operations denies that and said he doesn’t know where the 5 min thing came from. He said he was the one in contact with Goodell and the subject of continuing the game wasn’t discussed.

Who really knows all the details. Point is they made the correct decision.

I am not saying you are wrong here. I mostly agree with you. Personally I am not going to find fault with what the NFL did. It seems to me they were originally going to restart the game. After hearing feedback from the coaches the NFL decided to instead postpone the game, which was clearly the right decision.

So, I agree with you about how the situation unfolded. But your posts seem to suggest some sort of ill intent on the NFL's part. I don't see it that way. At the end of the day the right decision was made.

I saw Vincent's statement. It is possible the officials on site made that decision without the league office telling them what to do. It is possible someone else in the league office made the decision to try to continue the game without Vincent's knowledge. It is possible he was in on that decision and is covering for himself and others now. I do not believe it is possible that nobody ever told the teams they had five minutes to get ready and resume the game. That came from somewhere. Maybe Vincent doesn't know where, but it came from game officials or the league office, then the league changed course once the teams made it clear they weren't going to play.

It's pretty clear that it was Zac Taylor. The refs met with both coaches and did the "5 minutes to warm up' thing. Taylor went back to his sideline, and about two minutes later the announcers said he was walking back across the field. He talked to McDermott, who nodded and waved to his team to head to the locker room. When they showed the wide angle, it was clear Cincy was already headed to the locker room. I don't know if McDermott could have made that call, but Taylor showed a lot of class there.

Thank you. It's been almost a year since my last extended hospital stay (grab wood), that's what I use as my overall barometer. Plenty of Dr visits and procedures though, they still don't know what's wrong with me. (the jokes write themselves)
Hopefully Damar gets the same amazing treatment and recovery that I have so far.

This is my opinion of the way events played out. I’m not disputing that they told the teams five minutes and they were going to play and it doesn’t even bother me at all. Especially since they didn’t play. Circumstances dictated that the game be postponed.
Whether or not the coaches and players made a decision still doesn’t matter to me. Ultimately all I care is that the right decision was made. And the announcers were totally speculating when they said that “I think the coaches got together and decided they weren’t gonna play” I can’t remember who it was either Joe Buck or Troy Aikman, but when you start your sentence out with, “I think” then that probably means you’re speculating. Now was this later confirmed? Maybe.
This was an almost unprecedented event. The NFL were making decisions in real time. A lot of factors were involved. They did fine all things considered. There doesn’t always have to be a conspiracy or someone to be upset with.

Taking their time to make the decision was fine. Making the wrong decision first, then having to switch directions because the teams agreed to suspend things, then postpone the game is not fine.

You are entitled to your opinion. Mine is that the coaches saved the league from a really bad decision.
