I don't usually watch games that aren't the Steelers, but I follow them on espn.com or nfl.com if they matter. Since espn.com is usually slow, when the play happened and it didn't go to the next play in two or three minutes, i switched to NFL.com. And when, after 8 or 9 minutes, they didn't change the down/distance, I turned on the game.
Last night's game had me sick to my stomach until the touchdown. This was so much worse.

It's not dramatic, it's correct. If your heart stops, you're clinically dead

Scary situation. I pretty much woke up to this news. Tons of messages from friends that even hate sports asking me what happened. Just a surreal night in a scary fashion. I hope he has a speedy recovery. I've been following Damar's career since he played HS at PCC.

If the game was continued last night I would be done with the NFL as a whole.
This is how I feel about the situation, opinions aren't welcome.

Clark was great but the bit about players putting their lives on the line to play the game is over the top.

    Very tough situation.
You never want to see things like that.
    They did the right thing.

Do some reading about CTE and look at what happened last night. I have no problem with Clark saying that.

The teams did the right thing. I think it was actually the coaches who initiated the decision to take the players to the locker room, then postpone the rest of the game. It sure seems like the league's intent was to keep playing. That plan to give each team five minutes to warm up and resume play came from somewhere. I don't think the ESPN crew made it up. Buck, Aikman, and Salter sure seemed to treat the situation with the proper gravity and professionalism.

I think the league blew it and the coaches did exactly what they are supposed to do in a situation like that. They protected their players.

I am somewhere along those lines.
I had heard that the NFL had called and asked the Refs to get a feel for what they were thinking.
If it was the coach's decision, and the NFL agreed, I am fine with that also.
I admire the Bengals coach for walking across the field and whatever conversation took place, I am sure it was the right one. (I am fairly certain this what falls under your scenario and likely makes the most sense.)

That doesn’t surprise me that the league intended to continue the game. $ is the driving factor behind everything they do, player safety is a facade.

Kudos to them I guess for abiding by the teams decision not to play.

First thing Praise the Lord for the help this young man received and that he’s ok right now. Prayer for his future and health is needed.

I still remember the images of Hank Gathers collapsing and dying on the court. He didn’t receive CPR.

To me if you die, your heart stops, breathing stops and brainwaves stop and it’s over. Cardiac Arrest means you’re in the process of dying and without help you’ll be dead soon.

After doing some reading it is now considered that Cardiac Arrest IS Clinical Death. I guess the more studious medical profession needed to define each stage of dying so there is a difference in being dead and being clinically dead.

As a fan I’m sad I didn’t see a great game last nite But as A Human the game doesn’t matter, I’m really glad this young man is Alive and hopefully getting better by the moment. That is what really matters.

Also: I’m really glad our society has progressed over the last 30 yrs and trainers and other medical staff on “Teams” are better trained in life saving techniques and on when to use them.

In reality it is a huge deal. There is 65000 fans who spent millions on tickets and more in traveling and lodging. There is millions watching at home, TV programming, TV ads to be considered. Sports betting and that revenue. Playoff standing are at stake depending on the outcome of the game.

I have no issue with the top Brass of the NFL and each Team questioning whether or not the game can continue. I’m very proud of how they handled it. Send the teams to the locker room, temporarily pause the game and ascertain the Entire Situation and Then make a decision. They in the end made the correct decision.

Moving forward is going to be complicated and not everyone is going to be happy but it is what it is.

A good book on CTE is by M. Hoge, former Steeler: its called Brainwashed

In one chapter it speaks about how in several studies of people who had CTE, 30+ % of them had not had concussions or brain injuries .

I heard some of what Clark was saying, he was discussing his own situation and his blood issues, how at 24 he didn’t know he could die from it and how he begged Tomlin to let him play in Denver and Tomlin said no.

TBH never really knew much about him. I see he went to same High School as Dan Marino, Marc Bolger, and me. He is a Pittsburgh native.

He has a go fund me page for toys for kids. It has gone bananas. His target was $2,500 and it now stands at $3.3M. Wow. When he recovers he is going to be in awe of the support.

Prayers up for Damar. Still in shock over what happened and kudos to all the emergency personnel in how the situation was handled. Who knows the outcome for this young man, but they gave him a fighting chance.

IIRC Karl is an ex reporter. I think for the Redskins. I wouldn't doubt that he's very well connected.
