I’m not sure what rule could be made to avoid what happened.

You see that type of contact on literally every play. For whatever reason, this young man had an adverse reaction to it.

I've never heard (witnessed) such a quiet exodus from a pro football game.

I'm sure a number of us have been praying, I know I have, but this isn't the time to talk about how this will affect the league.

Just announced he’s in a hospital and in critical condition……

This is kinda good news , he’s alive and being administered to by Drs capable of more than any trainers can do.

Continue to pray , he still needs it

I didn't see it live. Maybe it was the blunt force hit at the wrong spot at the wrong time on the chest area. I always wonder after a certain hit how on earth a rib doesn't break. I hope its nothing as severe as a rib that broke and made contact with his heart. Hopefully just a severe body trauma interruption that can be reset and stabilized.

Hopefully Cincinnati has a good cardio/trauma nearby that is staffed well enough to deal with this, though I am sure any on-call trauma doctor was paged almost immediately.

That was what I was thinking no way they wait if he is not stable. Or deceased

I know I did. Hits home. He's from McKees Rocks and played high school ball at Central Catholic then collegiately at Pitt.

I shouldn't be surprised in todays world but I still can't believe a few of the comments in here. I am sure all of us have of prayed in some way or another for Damar. The broadcasters on ESPN are doing the best they can. There is no script for this. My prayers will continue and I hope to god we receive good news after all of this.

Nothing. That was as benign a hit that you could have.
This is unrelated to the hit. He probably had an undiagnosed heart issue.

You'd think with the years he's played and the physicals he's had to get that he wouldn't have something like that.

My wife and I have been sitting here praying too. We will continue to do so. This certainly puts football in perspective, doesn’t it?

If you're talking about what I said about Suzie, I think you misunderstood. I don't think it's fair to her to have to try to keep commenting on this. She's clearly shaken up as all of us are, and I feel like they needed to cancel and not keep putting her on the spot.

Yeah you don’t know, but collapsing like that it’s probably the heart.

That was my first thought, though after seeing the replay he certainly did take a solid hit to the top of his chest. I just hope he walks out of that hospital, whatever the cause.

I think in the grand scheme of things, should football even exist any longer? If having someone die for a job that is overpaid relative to other jobs and just entertainment, does it even make sense to have the NFL, NCAAF, high school football or pop warner?

I pray for the young man and hope he's okay.

But how can society continue to allow people to be exposed to this any longer? Benign hit or not.
