Well, we know what Tomlin is, a mediocre HC that leaves us fans with little hope for playoff success until he is gone.

We could do worse, for sure. But being scared of being bad and passing up a chance to be actually good is not a good place to be. Way too many fans like mediocrity. I'd be fine stinking 5 years and winning a SB and then stinking another 5 years, rather than this not sniffing even a wild card round wind in 10 years. Yuck.

Thinking Tomlin is a good coach does not equate to liking mediocrity. That’s a false dichotomy and I don’t actually know ANY fans that like it. The Steelers have generally been among the teams with a legit shot at making a run for the majority of Tomlin’s career. The New England run has given many fans Ridiculous expectations. The Brady/Bellicheck era was historic and has very few parallels in sports. Rogers and the Packers…one Super Bowl. Rams? Here today…gone tomorrow. Chiefs… seven division titles in a row… One Super Bowl win One. I just don’t think you get it. I think you’re wrong. Mike Tomlin gives us a legit shot at the Super Bowl. He’s a good coach. It would be very difficult to find an upgrade for him.

Just to expand on how historic the Pats run was, Steelers second longest streak but no where close in playoff/SB’s.

Heck, the last time we won the Division some of these jokers were calling that a participation trophy. I really believe that some people are jealous if others are happy in life.

i dont agree the whole Ben Ab saga was mishandled by Tomlin. Having different sets of rules for those players where you had Troy confronting Tomlin over it. The whole Harrison **** show. The Brown filming in the locker room etc. the undisciplined play such as Ab’s TD cel ration penalties, this years olayers coming off the bench penalties. Etc. We used to be a one strike and your gone alah Santonio. But we also compromised on Ben when many thought the Rooney’s might get rid of him. But Tomlin’s way isn't Nolls way or Cowhers way and might be indicative of todays players but having a disciplined team with total commitment to team first is what I want but it’s just my own opinion.

It’s a known fact in the investment industry that most retail investors that have money invested by a investment manager don’t want to lose money so they accept plain vanilla returns. Sorta playing not to lose vs win. Sometimes you have to take a risk to be great!

I agree, but the Steelers (though limited sample..3x in 54 years) lol seem to take a more patient approach in the hiring process as well. I dont think they are so much fascinated by the current hot prospect than finding the one who interviews to their philosophy.

I'd happily take seven division titles in a row, even with no super bowl.

Oh, I think people in here would call that mediocrity. What good is a division title without a Super Bowl? Apparently the Chief fans, ownership, and players are content with being the best of four. They are satisfied with it. SMH.

Well you are wrong. One year they went to the SB and lost, sucks so much to be there..the other 30 teams fans mock that success.. lol

That there has been no SB repeat winners in 20 yeàrs shows how hard it is to win, let alone get there.

Tomlin is probably very good at X’s and O’s but his philosophy is old school. Line up and beat the man in front of you.

And that’s true, up until a point. The game has evolved a lot since the old days.

I'm greatly encouraged by Pickett since listening to his post game presser. He talked about watching tape of the Saints against the Browns and bring shown the play that resulted in Pickens TD being run by the Saints that they copied. So someone is breaking down tape and installing plays based on it.

It was also good to hear him articulate all the elements that went into that play and do it a way that showed he understood the concepts. Ben did a lot of things really well but his style was more in the flow of the game and instinct, Kenny seems more cerebral more like Peyton. So more of a Manning vs Farve type
