Pittsburgh Sports Writer Steelers Hate

It would be nice if some Pittsburgh area sports writers could just let us enjoy a win without reminding us how much the Steelers suck. Saw these gems after the Raiders game:

"Steelers’ rally vs. Raiders hid offense’s warts (for now), but don’t be fooled"

'I just don't see the progress' after narrow win against Raiders

It's like, don't you dare celebrate a win - the Steelers are bad! I'm glad the writers informed me how bad the team really is, I thought they were going to the Super Bowl this year

 

Sounds familiar.

 

I rarely read sports writers anymore, it's just fluff stuff or bitter griping from guys who have never left the old typewriter mentality.

I think most fans can see with their eyes this team has major problems, but to get a win, especially with the emotional situation with Franco felt really good.

 

Lemme guess: Mark Madden good ole Double M?

 

I use to read Labriola in The Steeler Digest. Probably because I went to High School with him. Cheap SOB wouldn't give me a free subscription. He is one of the few I read over the years. Always thought he was fair and impartial about our Steelers.

I think Mark Madden and our resident Nostradamus that "laid it all out" for us are one and the same.
Typically, the Pittsburgh Beat writers are pretty darn good at least from the encounters I've had with them over the years.

Journalism is dead and has been for some time.
It's all about "click-bait" these days.
The weeklong sports yakkity-yak shows are total BS.. now they have a formula for provocative female host and a couple smack talking guys...
Then they are more about fantasy football BS.

I always looked forward to that Steelers Digest being delivered to my mailbox (not my inbox, lol) every Friday during the season back when I was a kid. Yep, it was the old fashioned paper copy.

 

TBH I sure the hell didn't need it for free, I just thought it would be a nice of him to offer. I would not have accepted. I always assume people will be like me when it comes to things like that. The last 25 years I must have done over 200 tax returns for free because I knew the person.

BTW, you seem to take little jokes a tad serious. Your sitting around with a bunch of guys drinking beer and you say that cheap SOB should have given it to me for free. It's in jest. A lot of humans do it.

 

Mark Madden only likes the Pens. He hates Steelers and pirates, and thinks everyone is stupid except him.

 

This is literally what every journalist does.
Of course they're going to write about the team as a whole rather than just celebrate an individual win. Nothing new

That's Mark Madden's whole shtick. He loves to rile up the Yinzers by putting down nearly every positive thing this team does. He claims he doesn't even really care about football and would rather discuss soccer and Manchester United. Or the Penguins which is about the only reason I listen to him. It's not that I necessarily disagree with all of his Steeler opinions, but much of what he says should be taken with a grain of salt, same as many of the "company shills" that rarely criticize anything Steeler related.

 

I find it hard to take serious when the basis of the article is written based on quoting the podcast of a fellow writer. These are the ones I read from DK:

"When a city and its beloved football franchise b-b-b-b-bond, extraordinary becomes ordinary"

"Kenny deserves better than all these hyperbolic evaluations"

He's made a career out of ticking off Steelers players and fans.

Been seeing if for 25 years....

 

I subscribed for about 15+ years but unfortunately being out here on the left coast it didn't always arrive in time for the following Sunday's game - so there was that. I can still remember the edition right after Hines Ward was drafted and how they were implying him having "Swiss Army Knife" potential. I'm not sure if he ever even attempted a pass during his career (still a mystery) but he sure made up for it in so may other ways.

 

She is just cute as heck...
She knows her crap too man...

There are very few Pgh Sportswriters or media that “hate” the Steelers. In fact, most couldn’t be bigger cheerleaders if they shook pom-poms and wore pleated skirts.

 

Are these all from Madden? I know at least one of them came from him, but I refuse to read his stuff. I won't give him the clicks.
