The fact we are still in the hunt with this team and Canada says a lot. This isn't no weak sauce division like the nfc-s where everyone is below .500

I kind of feel like this could be like when Ben came in Cowhers last few years. Maybe they win it all next year or year after and tomlin calls it quits to tomlinism on mnf or some tv job. Know thats a big reach but thats why im a fan.

Oh man, the idea of Tomlin being a color commentator is actually hilarious if you think about it.

Here’s my issue: if it’s a Canada problem, then who caused that problem? Why didn’t they fix that problem in the off-season?

Did they think Canada will magically improve from last season to this season?

Betting on Canada magically going from garbage to great simply due to changing QBs is dumb as ****… so who’s fault is that?

but I agree…l we r still stuck with tomlin.

Pair him with romo and itd be brutal. Tomlin talking in circles not saying anything and romo predicting plays for 2 series in the future.

This is what happens when you add another game and Wild Card team.
    Crap teams still have hopes.

You should know that the steelers organization will not let a coach go unless they know someone is legit better.

Possibly they thought a new movie qb would work for his offense. And they didn't see better after they saw he sucked still after a few weeks this season. However nothing was better and they rather pickett learn. Because changing OC in a new rookie qb is very hard on them generally.

Well about 60% of this board thought just that. Ben was holding Canada back. Hell I'm being generous with that. I can only think of Myself, and 3 others that thought differently.

Produce the quotes to support this.

By the way, pointing out that Roethlisberger's lack of mobility is part of the problem is not the same thing as saying that it was the only reason Canada's offense wasn't working.

,I thought he needed a more mobile QB it turns out he needed Lamar or Hurts ... Canada just isnt ready from a X and O'S department ...

And 60% of the board was right

Canada’s offense sucks but it’s less sucky when there is a quarterback who can throw the ball better than my wife

Blaming Coordinators is trendy and makes us look smart.
    It is also easy.
There's a lot of moving parts.

In Canada's case, I do give the critique some weight.
I dunno about the argument of Ben holding Canada back. That's a whole 'nuther thing to unpack.

For me, Canada has failed in the basic premise of the offense.
    How so?

Right up front, he knew they had some new working pieces.
OL changes - I does take some time (reps) to get them playing as a unit.
QB - A lot of high hopes for Mitch, a Rookie with promise, and Mason a guy that has been here.
And Matt knew he was installing different system, more of his design with movement.

Out of the box, you would figure they would lean on the run game to gain some footing and build that foundation.
Mix in short quick routes to build confidence in the passing and develop that unspoken communication in the air attack.
All that seemed foreign to them.

Then you bring on the rookie and have him tossing 50 passes?

Schematically, there is an odd blend of routes in the passing game and they don't use a weapon like Pickens enough.
He does seem to show a formation with different plays from it, which is good.
    But sometimes it seems predictable.

So, I am in the camp of moving on from Canada, I think he is still a worthy assistant.

This is still a bad team. The steelers have only 3 wins against a team with a winning record since last year...2 of his wins was in week 1

Man I have no clue how you can say that and then say you're in favor of moving on from him? He is absolutely horrible. But then we all have opinions.

He is a decent assistant - on someone else's staff.
That means the OC is drawing plays for him and making the calls. Matt can learn from that, he's not totally inept.
I don't wish they guy ill will, just move on from him here.

Contrarily, thought the only reason we won was due to Ben being able to call his own plays in the 4th quarter and get away from the BS that Canada called all game long. Ben hasnt been mobile for at least 5-7 years and everyone knew it. If they wanted a mobile QB, they should have never signed Ben to an extension and also they wouldnt have won as many games without him... I know its a crazy conundrum but it is what we have been dealt and sometimes you have to cut the losses. In this case its Canada because you cant actually fire the whole offense. One last point...a coordinator doesnt call plays to fit his style, he SHOULD call plays to fit his personnel. Thats where Canada comes in short almost everytime.

    THIS

Half the league makes the playoffs. We are not good, but there is some perception that we are OK. We stink. We don't suck but stink. that offensive performance the other nice was awful. No way we can beat any of the top 5-7 teams in the league. Don't give me that Bengals crap - that was an opening day football God gift!

Cana-duh will probably keep his job and we will wallow around .500 next year too

Translation: You can't back up your claim. If you could, you would do so. It is your claim. Back it up, admit you can't, or demonstrate you can't by refusing to do so. Accusing others of lying when you can't back up your claim is just you being dishonest.
