This is just silly. It makes no sense and there is no evidence to support it.

It's not that he is average, its that his style of play isn't what was touted. They advertised him as a safety that could be a ball-hawk and create turnovers, etc. He is mainly a box safety that can play dime backer, while being relatively poor in zone but solid in man coverage. He is very good at what he does, and what he does IS valuable... just not as valuable as what Minkah does. He is far from the weakest secondary player we have.

We REALLY need that #1 corner. If we can find that with Sutton, Minkah and Edmunds... we would have a great secondary. We need to replace Bush with someone better and get a #1 corner. If one of the top corners is available with our first round pick we are trolling if we don't pull the trigger.

I think he’s average at being a box safety, not very good. There are highs and lows. We can agree to disagree on that.

you have no evidence for your claims either. It’s just a narrative you put together using hindsight.

explain how the OL ended up so bad, but they drafted a RB. Or how the QB decision has gone and still going. What plan did they have for OL/RB/QB 3 years ago? Explain the plan they had back then without today’s knowledge.

how did they plan to replace Pouncey, decastro?
How did getting Harris fit that plan?
What succession planning did they have for Ben?

You are accusing one of the more successful general managers in the NFL in the last 20 years, architect of two Super Bowl Champions and three appearances, and head coach who has been to two Super Bowls and won one of them of having no plan whatsoever. Those resumes are my evidence. They just stumbled into all of that?

    You're funny.

you can find this out with some of the greats - the fire in the belly, etc.....it is what exceptional scouting is about.

Well... those two SB wins and 3 SB appearances were architected by Cowher's planning/approach to football.

The dart boarding started after Cowher left, and it started having impact around 2010 as the "new" pieces came into play.

So Cowher did it by himself and Colbert was just along for the ride? That's your theory? You're funny.

Tomlin and Colbert's first draft together showed their ability to identify and address a need. That defense relied heavily on outside linebackers, so they reloaded with Timmons and Woodley, who both played big roles in the dominant defense that won Super Bowl XLIII. That is just one example of planning.

They did try to address the plan after Roethlisberger more than once. Sometimes plans, like Rudolph and Dobbs, don't work out.

You don't think there was at least some thought of grabbing a stopgap and drafting someone this year or next year, especially knowing Pickett could be there for them this season? Taking the quarterback they know better than any other team was just a whim?

    Seriously, you're funny.

If you want to say the plans were poorly conceived or executed, then I'm right there with you, but this take of yours is just silly.

They were hoping that the guys they picked in the mid rounds panned out. They really didnt. OG and OC aren't awfully hard positions to replace. Cole and Daniels are fine replacements for the money.
It didnt, but we also had no one at RB. Despite me not loving the value at RB in round 1 its not the worst bc Harris is good
The plan was to squeeze every last ounce of football out of Ben and if our team was good sign a splashy FA/flashy trade OR if our team wasn't that good take one in the next draft.

How many NFL players are what You described Edmunds to be....nobody wants??? Again because (not My opinion...facts)...nobody wanted Him....so He crawled back here for scraps.
Oh I know He says He had plenty of offers, but there is No proof of that...anywhere. He had so many offers....He came back for less than His rookie contract, and less than His 5 th year option would have been. He is average at best...., but like I said.....don't take My word for it.....take the NFLs

    I’ll disagree

Seldom to you find a fire in the belly etc from a 20 or 21 year old

The biggest idiot of the game has to be Terrell Edmunds who was inactive for the game, yet still managed to get a 15 yard penalty that could have cost the Steelers the game.

Just coming off a game where one idiot play almost cost them the game, only to find the team has an even bigger idiot on the roster this week.

No defending Edmunds on this one for me, who was hoping Edmunds would come back for another year.

It was dumb, but “could’ve cost us the game “ that’s ridiculous.

I’m just going to toss this out based on my thoughts when watching the game

Daniels somehow was also in that celebration he is an OL he also would not have been on the field

    Before we crucify Edmunds

Edmonds being inactive and still running on the field is absolutely ridiculous! This is the kind of BS that should not/cannot be tolerated! If they are this dumb I can't even begin to fathom their actual football knowledge!

Edmunds wasn't even in uniform. Magically We take Edmunds off the field.....We get 3 ints....keep the top Wr(arguably )in the league for 2 catches for 15 yards, and rb Jacobs( the NFLs leading rusher) for his second lowest rushing this season....44 yards... Coincidence??????
    No....more proof Edmunds sucks.

The announcers went over this when it happened. It moved the Steelers back 15 yards and the Raiders had 3 timeouts. If the Steelers would have ran 3 plays and had to punt the Raiders would have good field position and around 20 seconds to get into FG range to send it to OT. Of course the Conner Hayward jet sweep ended the game so the penalty became moot.

Bingo. Inactive and in Street clothes how can you justify a 15 yard penalty?

I have been a big supporter of Edmunds all along, but this is the stupidest thing I have seen all season long; no wonder he can't read a defense to save his life.

the ref who was part of the broadcast crew said the rule is “a player without uniform cannot be involved”. A dressed player can join the celebration after the whistle.

    So it’s an Edmunds-only issue.

are you defending the guy who clearly broke an NFL rule by thinking he can be part of a celebration in his winter jacket and running shoes?

I’m curious to hear a real argument on behalf of Edmunds on this penalty.

it would be interesting to know how often this penalty has been called. I don’t recall ever hearing about it.
