I remember when that album 1st came out. I listened to that everywhere. I still hate the singer though. I tend to like bands with more than one singer. Mastodon, Dobbie Bros, Allman Bros, FishBone, Kiss, Eagles, and the Beatles just to name a few.

I agree on James Labrie. He ruins DT songs live by going completely incoherent and even off key sometimes. But… I can’t stand any of the singers from Mastodon. So much of their music is so good, and I just can’t listen to it.

Labries best work was on Awake because it had some balls and chunk to his voice. Really the only album that sounded like that due to the era it was in and the aggressiveness of the music. Still, big fan of DT for sure.
Oddly enough, Labrie has a solo album with a guy singing metal vocals on it. Pretty cool and a big departure from what DT sounds like.

It’s the live stuff that gets me. DT has a lot of live albums, and it seems like every time LaBrie started to get into the song he would just less and less coherent and sometimes be a bit sharp or flat. It goes beyond mishearing lyrics and just hearing random warbling.

You're absolutely right. He is pretty pitchy live.

Ok, here's one I had forgotten about.

In Kokomo by the Beach Boys, every time I hear this line:

    "Martinique, that Montserrat mystique"

I swear they're saying "I want to make that mound of rotten steak"

    Cued up here:

Scott Kelly was my favorite Mastodon singer. Thats never happening again though, sadly.

Which one? Its a whole set. The first song?

I love how they are all crammed on that small stage and Scott has the most room. Small shows are the best!

Man, I've played in some tight rooms but that one is borderline claustrophobic.

Just remembered a couple of other Metallica songs I used to get wrong.

In Creeping Death, I thought "So let it be written, so let it be done" was "So let me retire, so let me die."

And in Wherever I May Roam, I thought "Roamer, wanderer, nomad, vagabond" was "No more wander, no mad vagabond."

Really that is unfair. I agree.
I played in a band with 3 singers, and the Drummer was one, and if I could have figured a way He would have been up front with us, but sometimes the cymbals can be so dang loud I couldn't even hear what I was playing.

"Eminence Front" The chorus, I guess HAhahahahahaha!

I always thought they were saying "living room sports" when i was a kid. And me and my older cousin who I lost the doritos bet to used to play 1 on 1 tackle football in the living room when the weather was too sh**tty out.

Or play football with action figures.....

And me and my cousin thought that for many years thats what they were saying.

So we would call them living room sports.

And I was rewatching the Entourage movie this weekend, and this song came on near the end...blast from the past!
