TJ got in solely on reputation and not performance. Highsmith should have gotten in over Watt.

Yes, TJ was hurt but stats are stats.

TJ season: 4 sacks, 1 INT, 1 FF, 29 tackles
Highsmith season: 11 sacks, 0 INT, 5 FF, 51 tackles

I agree, TJ doesn't deserve the Pro Bowl. Highsmith is a good player, but I don't watch enough of the other teams to say that he deserves it. But just going by stats he does.

The Pro bowl is a popularity contest and if anyone includes any pay incentives in their contract for making it is a fool.

Do we think Minkah should have made it?

Absolutely in fact he was the only free safety in the AFC to be named.

I doubt if TJ will participate because of injuries so Highsmith will probably be named since he is the first alternate.

But based on performance? Do you think he should have made it or did he make it based on name also? I love Minkah. I'm just curious.

He has 4 interceptions this season the only free safety in the AFC that has more is Simmons from Denver who has 5. Minkah has 75 tackles for the season and has a blocked XP that won the Bengals game. He will be an All-Pro this year.

Wow. I'm agreeing with B L on this one. Oh well on the ProBowl. Watching a Cornhole tournament would be a better option. Flag Football. LMAO!:zombie:

Guess it depends on your view of the pro bowl. If you voted with the thought who's the best LB's in football. Watt is easily top 3 - even this year - when he's playing. If you vote based on stats then you would eliminate anyone that missed time and the stats reflect that. I personally don't think Highsmith deserves a pro bowl spot. His stats are heavily weighted on week 1 when he had 3 sacks because of Watt. His first 4 games he had 5 sacks and a FF. His production has fallen off and I wouldn't say he's a force to reckon with. He's a nice player

High smith leads the league in forced fumbles and is tied for 7th in sacks, while watt missed half the season so yeah HS definitely got snubbed

TJ definitely didn't deserve it. Availability is as important as ability. And he didn't display consistent results worthy of recognition.

Highsmith I like, but I said in a different thread earlier in the year, when folks were making a big deal about him being at the top of the sack list, that he wouldn't end there. And if you adjust for outliers (3.5 sack game and a 0 sack game) he's a 10-12 ish sack guy maybe 13 since we have an extra game now. I don't think he's a pro bowler. He did nada while Watt was out. That was his opportunity show true impact...and there was none. He's a nice value piece right now because his performance outpaces his contract, you could argue. But the Steelers will need to pay him this offseason or next (I think) and then he's not as valuable, in my opinion.

Interesting.. TJ Watt is obviously all pro talent but had a bad year after injury.

I've been big on Highsmith since they drafted him. Already surpassing what Bud Dupree did/does, it is a bit of a snub for him he had a great year and imo a great player

He had 3.5 sacks in the 7 games Watt didn't play. Would net out to ~8.5 in 17 games. But Averages are mis-leading to a degree. He could have a a couple1.5 or 2 sack games over the course of 17 games without a Watt like object. So I'd say 10-ish (give or take) sack guy.

Nobody is saying he's a force to be reckoned with, but he's a good #2 OLB.

It's all about the recognition now, they aren't even playing a game this year just some skills competition, I think.

Watt is definitely the better player and athlete but I think they both benefit when they are both on the field together.
