Minkah and TJ Watt make Pro Bowl

Congratulations to Minkah and TJ for being named to Pro Bowl tonight. Cam Hayward, Alex Highsmith, Derek Watt and Pat Freiermuth named as alternates in case one of the starters can't make the flag football festivities.

 

I expected TJ to miss because of injury but this is a popularity pole

TJ? Definitely proves that it's a popularity contest. That's ok. It's flag football anyways so hopefully he doesn't injure himself again.

On a more serious note. Congrats to both. I'd say well deserved but see above. Pretty hard to sugar coat it.

 

Derek Watt? He’s had a decent year and is a good special teams player, but that surprised me a little.

 

It's laughable actually. I wouldn't even call it a decent year.

6 Rushes for 17 yards with a long of 4.
5 Catches for 11 yards with a long of 5.
3 Tackles on ST's.


How in the world this is ever Pro Bowl worthy is beyond my wildest imaginations.

At 2.75 Million it's highway robbery to say the least.

 

He was named the alternate at Fullback behind Ricard from the Ravens.

 

Wait....What...You were serious. Derek Watt???? Who's next Boyken?

 

Yeah I am very surprised he was even eligible. I can't imagine he will play in that "game".

 

Maybe a popularity pole but look how this defense wilted without him. he is the most important defensive player in the league

Being an All Pro is what you want to be congratulated for.

This Pro Bowl is now the Joke Bowl with flags. Never was anything to watch and now even more.

 

The Pro Bowl has been a joke for some time.
I'd like to see them find a way to make it mean something more. I just have no idea as to how.

 

Maybe because his last name is Watt? I'm with you on not understanding watt criteria that is needed. TJ, well he is a bad azz and would have been there if not injured anyway so I have zero issue with him. JMO>

 

The Pro Bowl is a joke. Watt being there over Highsmith this season proves it. Of course, Watt is incredibly important to the defense, but he shouldn't be given credit for things he didn't due because he was injured.

Highsmith absolutely belongs.

 

Have the vote, put both teams on opposite sidelines, have them chant, "2 4 6 8, who do we appreciate" give them plastic trophies and juice boxes, then everyone goes for pizza!

 

I watched the Jeff Dunham special last night where he brought out his new guy URL who talks about participation trophies.

 

That has possibilities.

After seeing Derek make that important first down, the voters maybe thought Canada was also under utilizing Derek and he got sympathy votes.

i don't how fullback is judged, but when Lorenzo Neal played, it was for a blocking fullblack.

 

It has been a joke. It's why I laugh when some people use it as a argument about a player being better than another.

 

It is a joke, but for the most part, if you can't ever get a sniff of one and another player can, that does say something.

 

It used to be a vacation for players and their families...a nice end of year week.in Hawaii. Then they moved it to Orlando and put it before the SB..or alternated it..not much to begin with but at least the players went.
