Actually, I think he is saying that Edmunds is a weaker link than Kazee, too.

That said, I agree that cornerback has to be a much higher priority than safety.

Edmonds reeks of Bud Dupree syndrome. He didnt get any offers last year and the Steelers brought him back on the cheap. Now he is actually playing like he wants to be paid or at the very least , keep his job. I still think he is not very good but can be better if he plays consistently like he did yesterday. On a final note, I would try to find someone better in the draft, FA, or trade. I have seen him play for too long and not play well enough to keep.

While I think Edmunds is a decent player he was not worth a number one draft pick. I think he was probably going to be there in the second or third round.

I didn’t say how much. But with all the needs, perhaps a modest offer would be in the team’s interest

I'm sure of it. It's not that he wasn't worth drafting, but he was a huge reach in the first round. The problem with him was clear his final year at Virginia Tech. He doesn't make enough big plays.

I think he would be a good backup at appropriate salary

But we need an upgrade to start

Terrell Edmunds has been a bashed since he was drafted by a lot of Steelers fans....

If he was drafted in round 2 or 3 you would say what a great pick he was.

He is a sold tackler and fairly strong.
His coverage at times is a little average at best.
Never gets an INT, if he does it may be one a year if that....

He trucked a Left tackle yesterday.... if you don't think that guy is strong you be wrong..

He's playing himself into more money.

I'm interested in keeping him personally as long as its not crazy money...

Nobody has ever questioned his physical talent. He just doesn't do enough with it.

Yes, he would have been a decent second-round pick and a damn good one in the third. That is the problem. The Steelers reached for him in the first.

He is a solid tackler when he gets his hands on the guy, but he still takes terrible angles. He is often a liability in coverage. He makes very few big plays. Those things likely aren't changing at this point.

I don't mind keeping him as a starter at a reasonable salary next season. This is only because they have much bigger needs to fill.

I wouldn't gripe and complain if Steelers signed Edmunds to a cap friendly deal for depth at SS. But there needs to be an upgrade at SS eventually.

Agreed, but they have too many holes to focus on that this offseason. Interior defensive line, both inside linebackers, cornerback, left tackle, and left guard are all higher priorities.

By now you know his weakness and what he’s good at.

Never put him in a situation where he gets exposed.

Put him in Bush’s spot. Why not?

he was / is an official BUST. TOO MANY of those in the first round, the last 10 years. (BUSH< EDMUNDS< BURNS - Nice work there TOMBERT!)

Part of our regression. Go take a look at who we could have / should have taken INSTEAD of him.....

Nick Chubb was there, we had no RB plan......(Tomlin was trying to convert us and Ben to Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers.....)
Leonard - INDY, our BIGGEST need that draft and the biggest miss there for us.
not sure how Corbett, C, is with CLE or Hernandez (G) is with the G-MEN. Oline should have been in rebuild mode THEN.

Is Mike Hughes (CB with Minny) any good? haven't developed a DB/CB since....... Buehler, anyone , anyone?

needless to say, we crapped the bed with Edmunds. He would have been there in Rd 2 and probably in Rd. 3

He is terrible as a deep Safety he can't guard any guy with speed 1 on 1 thats all RB'S all WR'S and all elite TE'S.. He is more LB than Safety this is exposed against all passing Teams .. He should be moved to that Hybrid LB spot and stay in the box at all times ... His limited ability as a deep guy leaves us with very limited in the types of coverages and blitzes we can call the good OC'S and good QB's know that ... A huge part of the reason we get gashed against the run or get burnt on PA passes..

Careful. People will start posting about hindsight. :hehehe:

Yes, they should have taken Chubb or Leonard, then grabbed Edmunds in the second round.

I could be wrong and have no idea how to look it up, but I thought this was the last year of his deal.

They were trying to extend LeVeon, and drafted Conner the year before, so not they shouldn't have drafted Chubb. Maybe one day you will get it through your thick skull Leonard was never going to be a first round pick .

Conner was a third-round pick who hadn't shown anything yet and they should have seen the mess with Bell coming. Let him leave and then have a great one-two punch of Chubb and Conner.

Or take the next inside linebacker on the board, a guy that was more highly-regarded than Edmunds. That would have worked out okay. :hehehe:

The point is, they had some great options available to them, but chose to reach for a guy who was widely considered as a third-round value.
