I give the Steelers zero chance of getting in the playoffs but incase some are wondering how they can still get in at 9-8 here is what would need to happen

-Steelers win their final 3 games

    - Jets and Patriots lose 2 of their final 3 games, and Jaguars lose at least one of their final 3 games.

-Need either the Chargers or Dolphins to lose their last 3 games.

Another side note the loser of the Steelers Raiders game on Saturday night I believe is officially eliminated from the playoffs.

This team at the end of the day doesn’t deserve to go to the playoffs and that is why they won’t. They are 2-7 in the conference and lost tiebreakers to Jets, Patriots, and the Dolphins so they made their bed and now they can go lie in it.

But hey at least we went 4-0 against the NFC south...

Shows you how bad the division is...

However someone is getting a home playoff game for winning it...

I am kind of tired of them taking up a spot in the playoffs and losing (getting blown out) in the first round. They are improving and that is really all I had hoped for this year.

Steelers are improving is some areas.. but if your gonna be a team that competes for the bowl its got to be better.
The Steelers only have one way to win.. run the ball well.. stop the run.. and don't beat yourselves...

I look at Buffalo, Cincy, the Eagles and feel like we are miles away from what they do offensively.

Steelers offense is like trying to kill teams with Needle pokes, while those teams use Bazooka's....

Without question. When I say improving, I mean from the train wreck they were. We have a LONG way to go.

Here's some fun facts for you:

AFC North have a total of 31 wins and 25 loses
The entire AFCN is feasting on the NFCS, They are collectivley 13-1 against them (Cle lost to Atl earlier in the year), Two games remain, Balt vs Atl, Cle vs NO.
The AFC North is 9-9 vs themselves.

So the AFCN is 9-15 in non-division games excluding the NFCS
They are 4-13 vs the AFCE and NFCE

The phrase, “this team doesn’t deserve to go to the playoffs” makes zero sense if a team qualifies for the playoffs. If they don’t, then it’s redundant.

The year we started 11-0 the AFCN played a very weak NFCE. I bet our division did really well that season. Of course a weak Washington team took us out.

But remember like 2 years ago the NFC East was like the biggest joke bunch of bad teams.

Now this year its the best in the NFL. All 4 teams in the division are in a playoff spot... with 3 weeks to go in the season.

To be competitive in 6 of the 8 games we lost while playing QB roulette, having an overmatched OC and losing the reigning defensive MVP has me feeling optimistic about our future even if we miss the playoffs.

That's pretty crazy. It seems like there is one division each year like that. I haven't really thought through all the logistics, but it seems to me that there could be a rule where if no one in a division at least has a 0.500 record the playoff spot should instead go the next best wildcard contender that otherwise wouldn't get in.

Id like to see them play the spoiler if that 2% chance goes to zero. Raiders fan asked me at work if the Raiders could win that game. I said if it was a Sunday afternoon game yeah they could but a night game retiring Franco's jersey celebrating the 50th anniversary of IR at home, thats an uphill battle.

Next season the Steelers play the AFC South and the NFC West. If the Steelers finish last in their division then their remaining 3 games will be against the Bears and the last place team from the AFC East and the AFC West.

Steelers passing offense is light years away from actually being a contender of any sorts. It’s been the case for the last several years now. If we get over 250 yards passing it’s a minor miracle.

Sounds like if we win there is still a chance we will be eliminated, but at 7-8 Tomlin will be hoping for his non losing season streak to stay alive.

Remember also how weak the AFC East use to be like 10 years of it, hell NE would qualify
every year at beginning of season with the likes of Buffalo, NYJ, and Miami
on their schedule twice a year.League is cyclable, Us picking in the high twenties for the last
20 years has had a detrimental effect on our talent level.

I couldn't see them in the playoffs way back in training camp. Just not enough "known" pieces and too many "will they fit" pieces.
I don't want to digress into another evaluation rant but rather just say, that I want to see how they build on the blocks they have.
The Bengals are only going to get better.
The Ravens have QB issues but will be in the running.
The Browns have some pieces, I'm not sure where they go.. I like the coach.
So, the Steelers better have some sense of urgency.

There is a very good chance they get eliminated this week even if they win. If Mia beats GB at home, and the Chargers beat Indy on the road. The Steelers are eliminated. There probalby something like a 30% chance that Mia and LAC win. And if they don't this week the same deal stands next week and the week after.

538.com gives the Steelers a 0.3% chance of making the playoffs now. If you plug in 3 wins for them, the chances only rise to 4%. This just shows how dependent they are on other teams and the weakness of their tiebreaker position.
Basically, the chance that the get eliminated this week is about 10% greater than changes of making the playoffs if they win out!

Playoffs..... they are just trying to preserve tomlins never-had-a-losing-season streak cause that's all that matters to the MTAC (Mike Tomlin Apologist Club)

Losing to the Ravens when they were playing that High-School QB hurt. That is when I abandoned all hope for this season.
