I have always thought for years that he was the weakest link on the D.
But I gotta praise him when it's due, he isn't a superstar but he has been playing good football lately.

This game he was decent. He was bad against the Ravens in run support

The Safeties would look a Hell of a lot better if the ILBs and CBs weren't so absolutely terrible.

The play where he bowled over the OT was pretty freaking awesome! He beat the OT better than TJ. That was great!

He has been a good player for a while. People just didn't like that he wasn't the ballhawk safety that we thought he could be. He is an excellent in the box safety that is a solid man coverage guy. Weak in zone. It is what it is. Can't have superstars at every position. He is very cheap for the level of play he brings... I'd love to see him re-signed this offseason.

Seems like Edmunds has to be a hybrid Safety/ILB cause our ILBs suuuuuuuck. He's not a superstar but he's a good piece to have on a defense.

    Minkah/Kazee/Edmunds sounds good to me.

All we need are some better CBs and that'll elevate everyone's play.

That is why I want us to get a CB in the first round of the draft. Best chance to get a premium corner for us. We can spend our money on the Offense (LG, LT, WR3). Spend the draft on the defense (CB, ILB, DL)

Another good game by Edmunds. Not the weakest link in the backfield.

Crazy how many people in Pittsburgh are still trying to run him out of town for the simple fact that he was a 1st round draft pick.

He still is the weakest link in the safety position.
He had a great game. For once. You don't sign a player for one great game a year. Otherwise He is average.
It's not like just Steelers fans think this. The whole NFL showed You this.
HE tried to leave....nobody wanted Him. He had to comeback for scraps. This is real. Not some fan mad because He was 1st round pick that is average.

JFK, the other "link" in the safety position is Minkah Fitzpatrick. Of course he's going to be the weakest link.

    JFK????
I was going to say the whole backfield, but some of our corners suck. Also We do play more than 2 safeties at times.

I agree with him being average. I do think he’s outplaying his cheap contract this year, and I wouldn’t mind resigning him to a modest contract for 2023. We have bigger problems to address with our cap dollars than replacing him at SS.

    Boooo.
I believe We can bring in someone better for just as cheap.....unless He comes back for the same exact price.
    We Need CB
    SS
    ILB
    DL.
We need at least one good one of each of them.

He sucked against the Ravens, but yeah, he had a hell of a game today. He's an average player, who has the occasional stinker and the occasional big game.

It matters in the sense that he was a terrible pick, so that is part of any evaluation of the team's drafts in recent years. At least he has turned into an average player, which is better than he looked early on.

He had a good game, but that doesn't mean he deserves a big contract extension. He is out of position or takes horrible angles on running plays far too often to warrant a big contract. I'd re-sign him if we can get a bargain deal and use our assets elsewhere, but that's about it.

LOL, so you are saying he is not as good as Minkah. I don't think you will get any arguments there. He does play a great Robin to Minkah's Batman though.

If we got rid of all DBs that were not as good as Minkah we would not have any DBs left on the team. Like I said before if we draft a safety to replace Edmunds, before we draft a CB, heads will roll.
