Heyward is making an extreme amount at 22,256 mill for next season with a 12,812 mill dead cap hit. He will be 34.

In 25 he will be making 22,406 mill with a 6,406 dead cap hit.

I feel he is showing age and taking a step down but they are tied for next season.

The Watt deal doesn't sting as much until he can't be on the field. He counts 29,368 mill next season with a 48,106 dead cap hit
In 24 its 30,418 mill with a 18,737 dead cap hit and in 25 it's 30,418 mill with a 9,368 dead cap hit.

Fitzpatrick for 23 is 18 mill with a 25,500 mill dead cap hit, in 24 it's 18 mill with a 10,500 dead cap hit in 25 it's 19 mill with a 7 mill dead cap hit and in 26 it's 21,100 with a 3,5 mill dead cap hit.

They are tied up for sure. I'm sure their will be restructures.

And they are not paying a QB yet.

The Steelers are several moves from contending for a Superbowl. The sky is not falling. It starts with coaching. We need to replace (obviously to anyone with at least one active brain cell) Matt Canada and the offensive line coaches (Pat Meyer and Isaac Williams). The play that Kenny went down is a direct result of a Raven's player rushing between two Steeler OL without even being touched. What is the point of having weapons (Kenny, Pickens, Freiermuth, Johnson, Harris, Warren, etc.) if you can't protect the quarterback or open running lanes? After selecting the best LT available with their 1st rd pick, Omar needs to select the best DT, OL, CB, and ILB available with the 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 4th rd picks. Yes... spend two of your top five picks on the OL! Spend any remaining picks on the BPA. Then make finding the best available CB their priority in FA. And, dammit, replace Pressley Harvin. We don't need a punter ranked 29th in the league and turns in 17-yard punts against one of our biggest rivals. Spend another 7th rd pick and get his arse out of here.

The Claypool treadle is looking great, should be a high second rd pick.

    Facing 'reality' -
    The reality of dating....
Young kids use a dating app on their phone.
Older kids use a dating website on their computers.
Adults use a matchmaking service to get dates.
Senior citizens meet potential dates at church events.
Anyone older than that will have to resort to carbon dating. (yuk, yuk)
    That's reality.

I hated it when we did it...and I do miss Chase but we need players so that will be nice to have that pick.

Vegas had them at 7.5 to start the season. I have a betting ticket from DraftKings before preseason for the over on 4.5, which I won. Overachieved.

you should not have hated it, you should look beyond feeling and emotions and realize this is a business. we suck this year and the future......is the future, it is not this year.

3 playoff wins in 12 years is woefully inadequate missing playoffs 3 out of 5 years is pathetic and last year they snuck in. The organization is seriously flawed from the top down and can not be taken seriously. Steelers need to rethink their philosophy

Trade Hayward , trade Watt the team is not contending next year anyways maybe for a 7 seed but that’s up for debate. No defense should be reliant on one dude. That’s the problem

If they were smart they would have gotten 4 wins 7 wins although team building is not going to get you to a SB or even competitive in the conference they need high draft picks and not to screw up those picks

We must not forget after this year, the steelers will miss the playoffs for the 3rd time in 5 years and it would have been the 4th time in 5 years if the Carson Wentz would not have choked like crazy in the last week of the season against the worst NFL team in 2021...Also because of the stupid new playoffs system...

Well congrats to you for your windfall, whatever it was. But even you didn't predict 4 wins, otherwise you wouldn't have taken the over.

Point is, even though most of us expected the OL, QB, LB and even DL play to be question marks, not many expected this team to suck as bad as they have. Barring a minor miracle, this will be a losing season and another year without making the postseason. My prediction was 8-9 and felt like I was being too pessimistic. Now even that seems like a pipe dream at this point. But I didn't see any 4 win predictions.

The over and under for the steelers in 2004 was at 7.5 too and they were 26th in power ranking on espn before the season. But they finish the season at 15-1!

This has got to be one of the dumbest things I've ever read from a sports fan. Do you know what it would take to convince 53 players to tank for draft picks when they know some of them will be replaced by the new ones taking their spots? Hey guys throw this season in the toilet cause most of you are no good and we're going to try and get better players to replace yinz. OK, Now On 3, - 1, 2, 3 We Suck!

Who was expecting this team to be good besides some optimistic Steelers fans? Some of the free agent signings have been disappointing Jack, Larry O, Witherspoon, it doesn't really matter to me I didn't bet the over .

If you think that NFL teams do not tank then your naive. Obviously the coaches and players are going to play hard but once you are out of playoff contention or you know you have no chance at a playoff spot you can rest some of your regulars maybe play some guys that you frankly don’t really know what they can do. Who knows maybe you find a Diamond in the rough. My point is you do not need to sign guys to huge contracts , move up in draft and lose picks etc if you are not going to contend anyway or for the sake of going 500 it’s absurd.

Seeing what you have with other players after you knowingly are missing the playoffs is completely different than tanking a season for earlier draft picks. I'm not so naive to think that some coaches tried to tank in the past but it certainly isn't a common practice and more than likely is not information that is shared with the roster or other coaches for that matter. Limiting your total wins to 4 as opposed to 7 for a possible top 5 draft pick is idiotic if you ask me. If you want to lose a fan base that would be a very good starting point. Obviously we're in a down year and some fans just can't handle that. The funny thing is that should we get that top 5 draft pick but they don't pick "your" guy then it's immediately throw them under the bus time. Some fans will just never be happy. Tomlin could win us a Superbowl next season with KP at QB and some of yall would scream "But our punter missed a wide open pass on a fake, He sucks get rid of him".

Hoping Weidel infuses so MUCH needed changes and FRESH AIR in the org

Scouting, drafting, free agent analysis, philosophy start prioritizing guys who LOVE football vs SPARQ athletes

DL is decimated, Cam on downside n others are scrap. Left side of OL has to be upgraded, if Moore n Dotson are backups that's good depth

Ast coaches mostly need to be replaced And Tomlin needs to back away from calling the def to overseeing THE ENTIRE team

    Just my .02

This has been the case for quite some time we are not competitive against the better teams which is indicative of what we are. Playoff failures are the perfect example because guess what you are not playing the Falcons or Texans when those start you are playing good teams that kick our ass. The Duck season was another example of simply having a very easy schedule.

2022 has been a difficult season to weather.
It has become the season of the Madden 2022 GM fueled by a whole lotta 'shoulda, woulda, coulda'

It was strange enough for to look out on the field and not see the familiar #7 take his spot behind center, barking out commands. Even though the past couple years it became obvious that Ben's career was coming to an end, I still enjoyed watching how he ran that offense. The one thing that probably nagged at me most was that even though the Steelers played just one meaningless game during his 18-year career, the Steelers brass never seemed to pull the trigger on that one move that would push them over the top. Think of Green Bay who was struggling to beat Dallas, the Pack went and got Reggie White and Farve and company did very well thereafter. SF would do similar. The Steelers always played the had they had.

So, enter local boy Kenny Pickett.

I really think the Steelers got caught with their pants down. They figured that probably Trubisky and Mason would play well enough to keep them competitive while they stashed the rookie for year. Pickett played better than expected and Mason becomes odd man out. Even worse, Mitch Trubisky was getting no better, and in fact regressing and forcing the Steelers hand in starting Pickett.

Pickett is supposed to be supported by the league's top paid defense which should get after every offense they played. The logic is that they would probably be on the field the most, due to the rookie and a learning curve but this defense isn't led by anything resembling Dick LeBeau and wasn't supplied players by Doug Whaley and Ron Hughs with Colbert oversight. This defense has some issues in the scheme, and the players manning it either don't fit or are not buying into it.

One thing to note, the Steelers really are resistive to change. When you look at the coaching structure, it is almost exactly the same structure as it was in 2004. Most teams expand their staffs to focus on areas. Additionally, as we all know they stick to building from within to promote continuity. This is probably to a fault as one needs to change things to keep from being predictable. This defense is in dire need of a makeover especially when they have a game wrecker like TJ Watt which you would think coaching would be figuring out new ways to use him to attack offenses. It just might be time to inject someone not familiar with 'The Standard' and try something different.

Over on the offense, they do have some pieces in place already. They cannot stand pat though and need to invest heavily in protecting their QB. Matt Canada is no Ken Whisenhunt and is a product of the 'promote from within' legacy. Offensive Coordinators do become stale and predictable and that's what it appears to me is happening. I think Tomlin has to go out of the box and find a new rooster for the hen house.

    Just a few thoughts.
