Who should start if Kenny can’t?

IF Kenny is out for multiple weeks on concussion protocol, then Tomlin should sit him for remainder of year. No sense bringing him back for just a game or two.

Cannot realistically make playoffs now and only other thing to watch for in a losing year was Kenny`s development. If we have neither, then yeah, abandon ship.

Tomlin should rest Watt too. Also, try to develop some guys who get almost no play time if applicable.

although i agree for the most part they cant make the tank look blatantly obvious until they start getting eliminated. The only reason I'm not totally on board with sitting Kenny is because i'm not totally convinced he isnt a bust just yet.

A back up with a little confidence would be nice. That’s not Mitch or Mason so… let’s hope Kenny can play?

The Poll is kind of tough to answer.

    - Kenny Pickett is far, far, far from being a "Bust" just ask anyone not named Madden.
    - Mason, wow. There's got to be a lot of bad blood there. Mason is a good guy, he doesn't make any comments post practice or Lockeroom jive.
But I just wonder how that conversation goes. That will be a difficult one.
    - If Kenny is good to go, what about backup? Mitch was terrible. Do you yet still approach Mason? (I would)

Looking ahead to the upcoming offseason.
    - They have Mitch under contract for 2023, but that option sucks. It's $2.6 dead cap to cut him - it's worth it.
    - Mason is paid $4mil to sit and watch games this year. He will not return and I probably feel confident in saying under any circumstance.
    - They need to find a capable Vet now in Free Agency and probably draft the #3.

YES - REST WATT. Most important / valuable player on this roster. I guess we play Mason? Mitch sucks, I said that the day we signed him.

you assume this FO has 2 brain cells that has a plan. they do not. we will suck again next year, get ready for it.

    Canada will be here.
Tomlin (of course) will be here.
They will waste draft picks on skill positions instead of beef and brawn on the OL, DL and ILB / S.
    they have no plan.

I could fix it, if they would call and pay me.

I would start by eating Tomlins contract and blowing it all up

Rooney is asleep at the wheel

I wouldn't start Tribisky, but Mason is no savior. We will be lucky to put up 16 pts with Mason, so we're screwed either way.

I can't subscribe to any of that.
In the NFL, you have to navigate a LOT of rules. Add to it, the NFLPA.
It just isn't a video game.

Now I might agree Tomlin might need to go, and he might.
But he can also change things up too.
There's a lot of bellyaching about 8-8 stuff, which is not easy to do. Yet, truth is, you do want to see some peaks into the playoffs with a challenge to the Super bowl.
He has had a couple ventures that ended badly. Still, it is more than most.

Bill Belichick has been an exception, mostly as he feasted off a weak division but also played well into the playoffs.
Building a dynasty is pretty difficult these days.
Bill usually adapts something new whereas Tomlin is more old school.

But claims about the Front Office not being capable and so on just comes off as a mad fanboy.
I happen to know the Rooneys.. so, I know when something is just not true.
    Just my thoughts.

    The Steelers season is lost.

Let Pickett get his head corrected... no reason to rush back.

I see no reason for to start Mitch... unless you want to get your money's worth out of FA signing.. who they will probably move on from...

As much as everyone got on and has often disliked Mason Rudolph.. play the guy... he's been nothing but professional.. especially with a 3rd string demotion, let the guy show case his talents...

Probably won't happen because if he would go out and do well... it would like bad on the coaching staff's part.... I am sure....

i sense that some people here do know the Rooneys - and knowing people can jade our judgements. this Rooney is not the same as former Rooney's. this team is rotting from the inside out, this is not a new phenomenon for 2022.

I appreciate your thoughts and loyalties, but loyalties can cause us to go down with the Titanic.

that is what is going on.

We will wallow for YEARS unless the head (or heads) are cut off. I have seen it in sports, in politics, in corporate America, in churches - the HEAD must go, organizational enema's every once in a while.

THIS GROUP has no concrete plan and Steelers identity is GONE.

Drafting 2 WR's w the first 4 picks this past spring was case in point.

.....and how is this going to affect your life? Are you going to feel better about yourself by posting what's wrong 4, 5, 6 times a day? Gonna boycott? Wear a bag over your head like an old Saints fan? Better, change teams!

    Still cannot get on board.
Should he say; "I want this or that" now you approach the Dan Snyder zone: The meddling owner who is a fan not a football guy.

The owner's job is to read the paper and hold his employees accountable for their jobs.
I can never remember a moment Art interfered. He was fully supportive and backed Chuck Noll.
I can also promise that there is concern... this franchise does not equate to idiot that owns the Pirates.
But it is what it is, my job is not to change minds.

I think we need to consider KP's concussion issue. This is the second one so far this year and as we've just seen, can happen anytime. What will KP want to do going forward if this keeps reoccurring? Many thought this would happen due to our OL talent this year. There isn't any thinking about it, it's happening even with their improving. What to do? Does this impact the draft, FA, anything? Or, we ride this out and hope that's good enough. JMO>

If the season is lost, and it is, how does playing Rudolph help? Trubisky is the one under contract for next year, not Rudolph. Why help the pending free agent? In what way does that help the Steelers?

As if it really matters. This season has been garbage - even worse than many of us expected. QB play, OL, defense have all sucked mightily most of the time except for a few bright spots. Neither Mason nor Mitch are starting caliber NFL QBs so for me it boils down to which one could fetch a higher value on the market. Sh!tcan them both at the end of the season.

Rudolph will be an unrestricted free agent, so he's gone. They may keep Trubisky as a backup, though I certainly wouldn't mind seeing them move on from him, too.

It's not as if he had any choice. He isn't good enough. That is why they signed a veteran free agent and drafted a quarterback in the first round. They don't need to do that, at least not both, if they thought there was any chance he was anything more than a backup.

The results would likely be the same whether Trubisky starts or Rudolph starts. I don't see much, if not any improvement at QB by starting Rudolph. Might as well roll with Trubisky, get a higher draft pick and move on to 2023. Minus Pickett... the only winnable game remaining is Carolina this week. Raiders have improved and I don't see Steelers winning in Baltimore, while the Browns have a better roster than the Steelers.

Art interfered by finally moving away from Noll. He waited too long, IMO. They waited too long to move on from Cowher, too , IMO.

and they are waiting / waited too long to move on from Tomlin. Need a new GM / HC combo - top tier proven football minds. Does Khan KNOW the game - the X's and O's - the ingredients needed? HOW to build this thing? I am not sure. a lot of work is needed, we are so far from being competitive again....by that , I mean - feared, the Steelers of yester-year.

the owner can and should do more than read the paper. as far as hold accountable, well - then, Tomlin should be gone. Should have been after the 2017 season......
