No you wish the Steelers had SF coaches and roster. When
are people going to realize that football is the ultimate team sport
all players and coaches must be able to contribute.

The 3-4 is just a number as they often go 4-3, Nickle or Dime - even a 3-5-3.
Most of the expense is TJ and Heyward, I realize that.
But yeah, I agree with you. This Steelers Defense seems helpless at times.
And the 3rd string QB deal was just inexcusable and disgraceful. You run blitz that guy into oblivion because you want him to throw.

I think one reason they avoided the run blitz was that it opens you up to big runs like the one Dobbins broke, but yeah, they should have been attacking every play once Huntley was out of there. In their defense, how many times did we see a defender who seemed to be busting into the backfield in time to make a play only to be grabbed by an offensive lineman with no call. The officiating in that area was terrible yesterday, especially on the final field goal drive. It doesn't excuse the way the defense was trampled, but it didn't help.

This team just sucks. No game plan, actually no nothing. Long time before we get to playoffs much less win one. Totally disorganized.

I would agree that this Steeler team makes a Run Blitz an adventure.
I always loved the old defense; if they would have had A. Brown on 1 - they weren't talking about stopping anything in the huddle, they were figuring who was going to score.
It wouldn't have matter A. Brown or Lamar.. those defenses thrived on those scenarios.
This defense can turn a 1st at the half yard line into a nail-biting heart attack.

But that's what you do when the backup to the backup comes in the game, you seek and destroy.

Regarding your observation on the sack of picket according to Ramon foster that sack is on Pickett. He breaks down the play and how they’re aligned and the responsibilities. In this instance the qb knows or
should know that linebacker is coming free and has to hit his hot read or throw the ball away.

This is a great reminder of the importance of understanding the bias of a source. The former offensive lineman refused to blame the current linemen for screwing up is clearly allowing his bias to get in the way. If Foster said that, he's dead wrong.

Dotson slid into a double-team instead of blocking the free rusher. Queen didn't even hide his intent to blitz well. That sack was on Dotson or Cole, who may have called the blocking on the line incorrectly.

Do you know what their responsibilities on the play were?

I know Dotson ignored a guy rushing right in front of him to join Moore in a double-team. You've got to be smart enough to adjust there, but he isn't.

Watch it again. Queen didn't even disguise that he was coming. Sure, maybe it's a fake blitz, but at least pause a beat to make sure before you give him a free run at your quarterback. I did consider that it might be Cole's fault as the center often has to make line calls, but it is comical that anybody would absolve the line of blame when they allowed a free rusher at the snap like that.

If you would actually listen to what he has to say you would know how far off base your comments alleging bias actually are. Foster is more than critical of the offensive line when warranted. He breaks down the responsibilities and how they are dictated by alignment etc.

I don't think I have ever witnessed a Steelers team play like crap at home like they have this year.

Loses to Patriots, Jets, Bengals, and Ravens

Sadly all 4 were probably winnable.

Teams sure aren't as scared to come play us as they once used to be.

As a paying fan sitting there... its not even fairly exciting to watch... but I guess I have to take these bad times for all the good times I was previously awarded with...

This is clearly on Dotson...... Yes, players have certain assignments, but players are also allowed to make adjustments based on what is happening right in front of them......
In this case, Patrick Queen is directly in front of Dotson and for all intents and purposes, laid out the welcome mat and said Me casa es su casa

In this case, he is allowing bias to cloud his judgement. Dotson abandoned a free rusher right in front of him to help on someone else. That's a failure of the offensive line either in the initial call or in failing to adjust to the defensive alignment.

Actually no you’re not. I’m sure you’ve heard the mantra “do your job”. There’s a reason for that. Every player has a responsibility(a job) on every play. When a player doesn’t do their job is when things breakdown. We’ve seen it a hundred times this year.

Y’all made the same argument when Pickett missed the free rusher a few weeks ago. A player has to do their job. Not freelance.

DRAFT BIG FAT UGLIES, DUMLIN - how many years do I have to tell you? Let's draft the sexy RB Rd 1 in 2021 (wrong decision) and then let's draft 2 WR's with our first 2 picks in 2023 (wrong decision)

    this FO is clueless

they actually put their eggs in the TUITT basket - dumb dumb dumb.

and coaching - DL, OL, DC, OC.

Tomlin cannot and will not make changes - the ability to be great again is not here.....

Sounds like you are looking for an excuse to blame Pickett for other players not doing their jobs.

The defense sure could use Rocquan Smith at middle linebacker, wanted us to draft him out of Georgia, wanted us to get him from the Bears instead of the Ravens. He will haunt us for years now. We have nobody like him in the middle. Watt is still playing hurt and his backups are no better. Bush is still bad and gets worse against good running teams.

The problem with Smith is that they didn't just have to give up draft capital or players. He is an unrestricted free agent after this season and he wants a big contract. The trade wouldn't have been worth it for a one-season rental.

You think the design was to just allow a very fast linebacker an unabated rush to the quarterback? You're funny.

I disagree with #10. The defense NEVER gets a stop when you need them too.
