A lot of truth to your comment. It’s sadly ironic that Pickett was said to be the most pro ready quarterback because of the system he played in and mastered at Pitt and then comes to the NFL and gets saddled with an OC whose playbook is similar to what you’d see on a typical Friday night.

very good points. good observations. but having said that i still think every team that drafted a QB this year would trade that QB for Geno.

Pickett seems to be improving and it coincides with our running game improving. Right now I see his ceiling as Tony Romo.

I have kept up with this because I have found it interesting to see the numbers improve slightly every week which is all you can hope for,...

I still find it interesting that the same week that the talking heads said Kenny had a great game, also said that Matt Ryan laid an egg.

But the #s say they were almos5 the same

    Kenny Pickett.

    Matt Ryan

What were Matt Ryan’s numbers on third down. It’s the third down conversions to keep the drive alive separates the good qb from bad ones. I see improvement in this area. Still, running game is the key to Steelers winning last few games.

So far... if there's any Steelers QB that Pickett compares to.... it's NOD, but Pickett is much more mobile. People forget, before SBXXX, NOD hardly ever threw INTs. Pickett makes a lot of high percentage throws that only Steelers WRs have a shot at. Pickett does a good job, so far.... of limiting the dangerous throws. I hope Pickett ends up much better than NOD.

Rookie QB stats are not going to tell much other than the fact that it is a roller coaster ride.
The picks have disappeared, that in itself is very good.
Everything is far from perfect and Kenny himself will say that (has said that) and it's all a learning curve.
With each game, he is getting better.
He is starting to get noticed around the league.

I would only look at last few games and what comes after that to try to gauge progress. Earlier games than that are more like training/warm up IMO.

He now has enough experience where you ask yourself, "Does he look like he knows what he is doing?" The answer is thankfully yes.

As far as how good he is doing, I notice he has hovered around a 90 QB rating lately. Not turning the ball over and avoiding sacks as much as possible can go a long way to help a team win. I just wish our defense was dominant. When Watt is not 100%, it is a huge downgrade for us. Maybe he should have sat the Atlanta game out and we would have won anyway and he would be more fit for the Ratbirds game.

If the Steelers can win 3 of the last 5 games, then it means that they are 7-6 since Pickett became the starter. This is something the Steelers can really build on going into next year.

The big difference is one is a rookie QB who should improve with time.

The other is a 15-year vet who has seen it all, knows how to read NFL defenses and isn’t likely to improve any further.

While I do agree with the idea that one is Vet and one is a rookie who should get better..... but turd is a turd of it came from an old man at the nursing bome out a young beautful supee model

I think Kenny played a good game... it just made me laugh that with virtually the same production they said Ryan played a horrible game.

But of course. It's like what the difference would be if we were kicking a fg with seconds left to win and missed vs if we made it and won. The difference between what the media would print or spew on the shows would be night and day. Winning isn't everything, it's the only thing - Lombard. JMO>

He is starting to gain in my eye test in the category of looking like he knows WTF he is doing and being a leader. They had a view of him going up to the line and he is looking over the defense as if it he was looking over a nude beach. I am at tier 2 of 4 of believing he is our Neo and may be the one. JMO>

I’ve said Pickett’s floor is a more mobile Neil O’Donnell. NOD was a very good, anticipatory thrower of the football. He was very accurate and a good distributor, spreading the ball around. He was a point guard, if you will. If he hadn’t been so dang stupid and stuck around for a few more years, he may have had opportunity for additional post season success and maybe even another Super Bowl. Instead his legacy is pretty much defined by his Super Bowl interceptions and making Larry Brown, a mediocre DB, a very wealthy man.

The name NOD pisses me off to no end. I still have a hard time believing he didn't throw that game. At the time he was the second most accurate passer in NFL history during the SB season IIRC. Nobody that accurate and calm in the game just places those two INT's so perfectly. He knew he was going to sign with the JETS and had no intention of coming back to our team. He was really an accurate passer at the time. Jerry Jones would have no problem secretly cutting him a fat payday and ODummy would've probably accepted with no questions asked. Perhaps I'm being over dramatic but that SB loss is 10X worse than the GB SB loss in my eyes.

NOD…a name that will live in infamy in Steelers lore.

That was a tough loss. It was the first Super Bowl loss I’d experienced as a Steelers fan and it stung. We had the momentum and were on our way to winning that game when those awful picks occurred. Maybe it was the receiver’s fault for running the wrong route but O’Dummy was the QB and he was the one who threw the ball squarely between Brown’s numbers. Pathetic. Ruined a nice, romantic getaway with my wife that weekend.
