Maybe that is why he wants to contribute. I always think your first and second round picks should be on the field as much as possible, you drafted players in those rounds to fill a need.

Going back two decades, I think the only solid WR we've had who didn't act out was Hines Ward. Seems like every good receiver we've had ended on a sour note... Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm not sure Emmanuel Sanders had issues, but he was never a #1 guy during his time here. I always really liked JuJu and the way he played, but I know he had his distractions as well.

Not sure about that but I do know George was not as open as he thinks. He was being covered well all game. Did not see like he was running great routes and getting the seperation he would otherwise get. The only reception he got today netted him 2 yards lol

Juju as much as I liked him as a person I thought he spent too much time on social media and dancing on team logos at mid field.

I didn’t watch the game today so I missed the Pickens “outburst”. Really, after I went back and watched it it wasn’t nearly as bad as I envisioned. He’s just showing a little immature frustration. He’ll get it under control, I hope. Shoot, I’d be frustrated over Canada’s play calling too. It’s almost like Canada doesn’t know how to use the talent that he has and he basically admitted as much when he said he didn’t know what to do with Austin.

I don't remember anything with Manny Sanders. He just wasn't going to get the PT here that he deserved.

He was on the field plenty. The QB decides to go with the football. Understand?

That's not how real life works in the USA. Maybe this is how life works in dictatorship countries? IDK?

Imagine if your boss came to you and said JUST SHUT UP AND WORK................

If my Boss said this to me I would find a better opportunity. My Boss would be out of a high quality worker.

It was the injury, I don't think he played until the SECCG.

The play and QB progressions do.

Rookie seasons, Pickens is still in rookie. All SEC and consider best on each team. The other two are considered two of the best WRs in NFL. Pickens has same talent as both. Injury and out most of last college season cost him in the draft. And Pickens rarely gets a deep ball.

    - Chase targeted 128 times 18.0 avg, ht 6-0

    - Pickens targeted 59 times 14.2 avg, ht 6-3

    - Waddle targeted 140 times 9.8 avg, ht 5-10

I saw that too, but his route running wasn't the most impressive on those plays either.

I don't know but if you ask me the reason they didn't go to him more was was by design. .Pickens has been making plays all season, ( for the most part) covered or not. They seemed to go to Sims a few times maybe the wanted to see what they had in him? ....DJ couldn't catch a TD again, and dropped a few other passes, along with a fumble that was overturned... Personally i would have stuck with the hot hand.. untill proven otherwise

But yet many people on here want Pickett to throw to him. If he throws and it is an int, everyone will blame Pickett. Sometimes i dont understand.

Anyway, I liked him at Georgia, and if Steelers want to under use him I just have to hope DJ steps up.

    https://touchdownwire.usatoday.com/...nhappy-about-his-target-share-and-rightly-so/

The last time before Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons that Pittsburgh Steelers rookie receiver George Pickens played in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium was the 2021 CFP College Football Championship. Georgia won, 33-18 over the Alabama Crimson Tide, in part because Pickens scalded Alabama’s defense on this 52-yard pass from quarterback Stetson Bennett.
    ...

It’s easy to understand Pickens’ anger at the situation when you have an overall view. Criticize him for the Terrell Owens-esque sideline rant if you want, but he’s not wrong. Coming into this game, per Pro Football Focus, Pickens had a team-high 21 targets of 20 or more air yards with 17 catches for 285 yards, and the only deep touchdown the team had scored in the passing game all season. Receiver Diontae Johnson had 17 deep targets this season… and he’d caught just three of those passes for 84 yards.

And with all that, and against a Falcons defense that came into this game having allowed 17 catches of 20 or more air yards (tied for fifth-most in the league, per Sports Info Solutions), Johnson had 11 targets, catching five passes, for 60 yards and no touchdowns.

You make it make sense. We’re pretty sure that offensive coordinator Matt Canada can’t.

I have no problem with the kid, and he should get 10 targets a game no matter what.

could be. I also wonder if he is in the dog house because he was not on the field as much as in the past.
