Can someone post a link to the "not prepare" article....I must of missed it....I either heard on TV or read something along the line that Mendy said to Tomlin the fumbles were due to injury...and Tomlin's response was...then I will sit you down till you feel you are healthy enough to not fumble.

Mendy would be a great back behind a good o-line that could consistantly open running lanes. Behind our line which consistantly creates one large mass of men we need someone like dwyer who can move a pile or not go down when an arm reaches out of the pile and grabs him.

I think we will see mendy again this year but he is gone next year. I am thinking Indy or maybe Denver.

I don't see any way Mendy goes to Indy....BA barely used him when he was here.

The best fit for Mendenhall would be the Titans....They run a lot of Zone and Zone Reach that allows CJ to get the edge or cut back ,Mendenhall will do very well there...

The reason Coach T is doing it is he wants his OL to know we are going Power Run game he wants his backs to know your #1 Job is to protect the football.....Our D is playing at such a level we can grind and Coach T is getting his guys that do that best or who aid in that best on the field....Don't be surprised to see a lot of Plax on the field soon.....

We are in the hunt lots of thow the ball atound the lot QB'S heading to the post season and the best way to beat them is to keep them watching....The best way t make them watch is 3 yards and a cloud of dust....Dwyer and Redman both fit that mold and more...

Wouldn't ANY running back be good behind a good o-line that consistently opens running lanes?

I'm with you guys. Mendy isn't the flavor of the month, anymore, and he fumbled twice in a game (in which every other RB fumbled). So it's clear that he sucks. And it's really his fault that he hasn't done much for the Steelers, this season, so far. Who cares about his ACL and achilles? Who cares that he scored 1/4 of the Steelers total TDs in the 2011 season while missing several games due to ACL? Who cares that he did that behind a line much worse than the one that takes the field, now? What difference should that make?

when you have a below average line you need backs that are going to make their own yards...Mendy doesn't really do that well. He can pop it outside, but he rarely runs north and south and gains extra yards after contact.

He would probably do well in a different offense on a different team.

    yep... he sucks

2011 AFC Divisional... comeback against Ravens... Mendy helps get Steelers to SB45... looks like he's pushing a pile here... in a big game... where it really counts....

SB45... note the analyst... drive covers 50 yards on the ground, no Ben... Mendy punches it home... and the Steelers were down... the man dug in to get it done...

I disagree with Steelio on this. Earlier in the season, Mendenhall was the only back who could do anything behind a line that clearly wasn't settled. His versatility and speed (you know... his "dancing") were his best weapon when the line was not performing. Then he got injured. In the meantime, the line has stepped it up, as has Dwyer. But in fact Dwyer's best plays don't come from pushing the pile, but using his agility to break away from the pile.

exactly thig. we have no clean holes and haven't had. i disagree about the line stepping up.

they are not alot better then when they started. they should be better at this point a little, they are pros after 12 games. it's nowhere near where they should be at this point.

all of our backs are trying to make something out of nothing. alot of hands and arms when you have to run into that and fumbles are up too from it.

this line got better at running slightly when adams went in for gilbert. he is the better run blocker. it should have gotten better. it takes time to settle in too. he was just doing that when the injury hit. my hope is beachum looks even better this week after a week of reps. i'm hoping pouncey and DD are getting some extra reps at guard to. just in case.

And let's all remember that last season Mendy scored 9 TDs behind an O-Line that was worse than this one, and he didn't even play the whole season.

To date, Dwyer and Redman combine to about 1/3 the TDs Mendy scored by this point, last season.

    But Mendy sucks, though. :lolol:

I don't think this is a talent issue. I have had this debate on here before. Success in any environment is not always about talent. Mendy CAN do it all. He is a better receiver than Dwyer or Redman. He has breakaway speed, but rarely have we seen it. He CAN run with power when he chooses to.

Mendy has a couple of things working against him in this offense and the style we run. First, he is going to want too much money to stay here. Second, he is always looking for the home run, even when it isn't there. Here is the hole, here is where this play is designed to run....go do it. Instead he goes to where the hole is supposed to be...and either pauses looking for somewhere to run or does his spin move. All momentum is gone and the pile rarely moves. Now, can he move the pile...Yes. He just rarely chooses to do so.

Look, to me this is about fit. If you had swapped Barry Sanders with Jerome Bettis, you never would have heard of either of them. Sanders just would not have worked well here and Bettis wouldn't have worked well there. That doesn't mean they weren't both talented, only that they weren't a good fit. Mendy, to run in this offense, needs to be first about the 4 yards and a cloud of dust, and then at the times when there is a hole, you go further. Instead he always wants the big run. Just take what you can get.

At the moment Dwyer and Redman are running like they fit better in our offense. That is just the way it is.

No. That is just the way you see it. And you are entitled to that opinion. I haven't really seen Mendy in this offense. He hasn't featured, yet. But he was the standout in the Eagles game. Dwyer and Redman have had the opportunities and the carries.

Take a look at the vids I posted. Mendy was doing all those things. The problem I see is perception. People perceive Mendenhall a certain way. They perceive Dwyer and Redman another way.

Again... behind a worse O-Line, and not playing a full season, Mendy had three times the TDs of both Dwyer and Redman, at this point, in the season.

I've got mixed feelings about Mendy. On the one hand he frustrates the daylights out of me because of his lack of preparation and the way he dances behind the line resulting in negative plays. On the other hand he is an athletic freak and the most explosive RB the Steelers have. His problem is more mental than physical so if they could get his head in the game, he could be a consistently productive RB for the Steelers. Boy, the Steelers sure drafted two head cases in the first two rounds in 2008 in Mendy and Sweed.

Yeah, that explained my feelings more succinctly...
One of the things that bothered me about Mendy, was when Ray-Ray broke his shoulder, it sounded like he took a vacation.
Didn`t re-hab, at the Steeler`s facilities, didn`t take advantage of film study/talking to veterans, was just pretty much a "no-show"...
Actually, If(Big IF), I remember right, he got robbed at gunpoint, while walking thru his old hometown`s downtown district...
Point being, I dunno... He COULD be good for us..
But if he don`t get his head outta his ass, we got people here who can do the job just fine, as usual... we ARE the Pittsburgh Steelers, after all..
