Bengals LBer says Steelers run same plays over and over...

We've heard that same thing before about the offense and also about the Steelers defense, that it's easy to figure out. I know there are those on this board who do not allow any criticisms of Tomlin and this is not so much a criticism as it is an observation. I've pointed this out before, but the day Tomlin was hired he made the comment that "I'm a fundamentalist as opposed to scheme" which I have found to be quite telling. The fundamentals should already be there. These guys should have learned how to block, tackle, etc. in high school and college. When you're playing and coaching against the best schemers in the league you'd better bring something to the table besides we can block and tackle better than you. Otherwise you're a checker player in a master chess tournament.

 

Canada's offense is offensive.

You're not wrong, Canada flat out stinks. But it seems like that throughout his coaching career Tomlin has always put the emphasis on bringing in assistant coaches who are more "fundamentalists and not schemers" and it really shows against coaches who are very good at drawing up gameplans against certain offenses and defenses. Now an argument can be made that Canada has a scheme, but it's very limited and the focus is to try to master three or four plays, apparently the jet sweep, tight end shovel pass and 4 yard RPO / rollout. He also likes to run on first and second down a high percentage of the time. So once a defense gets a handle on what they're doing, it's like taking candy from a baby.

Doesn’t matter who the OC is, it’s the “Steelers Way Offense & Defense” handbook that’s been passed around for years.
I think they keep it in a maintenance closet in the gym, next to the duct tape.

Ask Brady and the Patriots.
Brady knew the Defense better than some of the Pittsburgh players.

I think he is the worst OC in the NFL.

 

In no way do I intend to defend the plays called, but isn’t this just another installment of Bungles talking crap after a win? Seems those comments were pretty quiet in September. But honestly, they can’t help themselves. They’re not used to winning. Their winning won’t last long. They’re a classless organization. They failed enough to get some good players. When the time comes to pay them, their run will be over.

 

If not ...He definitely has to be in the top 3 of the worst.

 

Tomlin hires coaches that will not outshine him. He then likes to hang onto them for as long as he can until being forced to oust them. That's my take anyways.

2. Sucks at who He thinks is a good coach.......,or...
3. Thinks He can coach them up on coaching LoL..

Actually none of that is a good thing.

 

It's funny that Bengals LB didn't run his mouth when the Steelers punched them in the mouth in the season opener . The Bengals like to run their mouths when they win, last season Boyd accused the Steelers of quitting.

 

Not disagreeing that Bungles are a bunch of punks who tend to get real cocky when they win, but I think we all know that Matt Canada’s playbook is extremely limited.

That is the sign of a bad Head Coach. Good Head Coaches, hire great assistants! They surround themselves with people that they can delegate and trust. If you're a good enough HC, you don't get insecure about other coaches.
