Mason played behind a worse oline with a worse running game.

    Good in the first half

We might have had negative yards in the 2nd until a little stat padding on the last drive

Yep, you from your couch. You can see just fine with your feet up and a beer in your hand. Can't be much different than being on the field, with pressure coming at you from 3 directions, and going through your progressions, can it? I mean, if its clear to you it should be OBVIOUS to him, right?

    False.
Mason played behind the SAME oline with the SAME running backs and SAME receivers as Pickett did this pre season, but couldn't beat him out for the job. In fact, he couldn't beat out the guy who's backing up Pickett. That would make him Kenny Pickett's back ups, back up.

asn i said thats what seperates the good QBS and i know i cant see the field but when i can see the little bit of field that is showing on the tv and that he is throwing at and see johnson wide open for first right in his site and he tries to complete a pass thats almost impossible to complete or a wide open WR that he actualy throws too and doesnt come close to completing that is on him. HE IS 24 not your ordinary age for a .rookie. steeler fans were all over Mason for the same reason we are giving Kenny a pass why?

Seems like a lot of people see what they want to see. Pickett missed on a couple of plays. He also made quite a few and had some big drops by his receivers, including a perfectly-thrown deep ball to Pickens late.

You see a two dimensional birds eye view....on replay. Just slightly different than standing on the field, working through your progressions, with 5 guys trying to kill you. That's the point. You missed it.
And what's Mason have to do with this?

Talk all you want about Mason's deep ball but you have to have time to throw it. With Mason standing back there, sacks given up would be much higher.

What difference does his age make? Was he playing in the CFL for 2 years? NFL Europe? XFL? Rookie is rookie

Exactly. He's made bad throws, missed throws, and not seen open receivers. He's also made really good throws and commanded the offense well.
    He's inconsistent.
He's a rookie, so it's to be expected.
He needs time, a lot more than 6 games, to grow and figure it out.
Too many people didn't like the pick and want so badly to be right, they abandon reality, common sense, and fairness.

The difference is by the time he grows out of being a rookie and competent, chance are it's close for time to retire, so it's wasted investment of time.

Ben retired when he was 40. If it takes Pickett 16 years to figure it out, we have bigger problems.

Do you expect Pickett to play until he's 40?

I have no idea, just stating that a solid career can go that long. I'm not concerned about Pickett being 2-3 years older than most rookies. His age isn't going to be the problem, his development is.

Hopefully. I would argue that Ben had a HoF career, and most QBs won't match that, so losing 3 years of a career before it even gets started, chances are, will make the time investment less worth while.

If a rookie of any age takes 2 years to become decent, I would take the 3-year younger one any given year.

Doesn't look like Pickett is developing faster than any other rookie.

Those are valid points. As fans, let's hope his development is a speedy one.

When Mason was a starter he played behind the same oline, had the same running backs and had the same receivers?

Mason has started 10 games and played in 17 for the Steelers. He's gotten more benefit of the doubt than some fans have been willing to give Pickett this season.
