I would have, had I seen this sooner :lolol: Would have put forth something to the effect of trajectory, momentum and wind speed rendering any effort meaningless :)

Is Wallace worth more than $50 million? What has he shown you THIS YEAR to cause you to say that he's worth more than AB? There has to be a WR in the draft or in the FA market that can run better routes and catch more balls. I was a HUGE Wallace fan in his first couple of years but it's just painfully obvious that he's a one trick pony. Wallace wants the kind of money that Calvin Johnson gets. He wants the kind of money Fitzgerald gets. He simply is not worth that. Let me put this in perspective for you. Ben Roethlisberger is the ONLY person to ever get a $100 million contract from the Rooney's. Now is MIKE WALLACE worth as much to this team as Ben? SURELY you HAVE to say that he's a diva for asking for that much money. They say that even his AGENT thought he was an idiot! There are probably MANY WR's RIGHT NOW that have WAY more yards than Wallace does at this point in this season. He's NOT as special as he wants us to think he is. Before today he had SEVEN catches in the LAST THREEEEEEE GAMES. That's HORRIBLE no matter who you are. Now how many times did he DROP the times he was targeted? You see what I'm saying. This is not just baseless claims we are making. There are actual facts behind this criticism. And no Wallace does not fight for yards and get the tough yards that Hines did. Period.

:this!: for the most part. I don't "HATE" him per se, but I have come around to see the position of his toughest detractors. I think there should still be an offer on the table for him, but obviously for what the Steelers want and def not what he thinks he's worth. I go back and forst on whether I think he is phoning it in so the team doesn't try to franchise him or he's playing for another team contract. I used to think the tuff thing was unfounded. This doesn't make me think he any other way.

he needs to lower his price or get the hell out. I don't care if he stays anymore. The ball has to be spot on anywhere or he doesn't catch it and even then he still loses it more than he should. He's not a #1 guy.

Absolutely. And I wonder how many will come to his aid if he STILL tries to play hardball with the Rooney's AFTER this year?

if anyone does send them to a shrink because we only have 35 guys signed to contracts beyond this season and with those 35 we are already 15 million over the cap for a team of 53 ....

you do the math ... THERE IS NO MONEY LEFT IN THE BANK FOR WALLACE

Exactly. How in the crap can you pay Wallace and Mendy? Also we have guys on D that are coming up on contract years as well. They should take a calculator and push the buttons for Mike Wallace to show him that it's detrimental to the team for them to pay JUST him.

I have watched a lot of players that have big time speed start to run before they have the ball or if they catch it in stride they tend to look up for the hit instead of securing the ball.

Not giving effort makes sense when it's a case of "catch this ball, feel some pain". If we were talking about that kind of play, then perhaps these criticisms would be fair enough.

But Wallace was wide open. So it makes absolutely no sense that he just wouldn't "try" to jump and get a touchdown if there was any way he could. If he really was that workshy, he wouldn't have bothered to run into the endzone at all, just hung around at the line of scrimmage, surely?

AB missed a couple easy ones, yesterday, also. Let's keep track of everyone.

my problem with Wallace is that he looks like he doesnt care.

when Sanders dropped that ball after the catch and then on the next series he couldnt make the catch because he looked hurt. they showed him on the sidelines and he looked down. that showed me how much he cares. he had his head down and someone on the sidelines was trying to console him.

AB is very much the same. you can tell that those 2 guys care on every play. they give everything they have to try and make a play. Wallace just seems to go through the motions.

im pretty sure that if he was in the same position as Miller on that great td Miller had, Wallace would have just ran out of bounds.

i just dont see the effort from Wallace. there is no way he should get paid more than AB or Sanders. offer him around 30 million for 4 or 5 years and see if he takes. if not let him walk.

Are you also counting Sanders' ghost fumble, and the two drops by AB (both easy passes)?

The entire offense is sloppy. This is something I've been saying for two seasons, now.

Absolutely. I think it was this thread or somewhere else that I called those guys out. The offense has been very sloppy.

Thank you for chiming in. I hope you will post more often. The extent of the bashing is quite comical. I'm more surprised that some fans so quickly forget any of the positives these players bring the team. It's almost as if Wallace and Mendenhall have been reduced to the level of Limas Sweed. :lolol:

Thats my guess as well about 6 Feet...If someone can post a snap shot then we can see he had a real shot had he tried...His Arms are probably around 3 Feet or so and I think he has a 3 Feet or so vertical, that would equal the 6 Feet needed to make the catch....My problem is he wants to be paid like an elite WR yet he gives a half hearted effort.....Do you think Fitz or Mega Tron would have just watched it go by?

As I stated in another thread during the draft I watched a private workout in Boone N.C. where a WR was making catches at 11,12,13 foot the whole session....The bottom line to me is the pass didn't look higher than 12 Foot off the ground when it passed Wallace, guys run and dunk the ball over the Goal post all the time which is around 11 feet if you count getting the ball over the bar,so IMO the ball was close enough for an effort.....

Okay...I am going to sort of agree with the OP. Im not saying Mikey is a new man and the answer to all of our problems, however, the second half of the game, I saw glimpes of the old Mike Wallace. I felt like his confidence was coming back. Is he the elite receiver he thinks he is? NO. But he did improve so, for me, I think there is a little bit of hope for our boy, Mike.

why are so many people arguing that Wallace is struggling and is not as good as AB or Sanders?

some are arguing that we dont know Wallace and what kind of heart he has. well i would like to think his coaches know those answers and im pretty sure it was his coach that demoted him.

we can all see with our eyes and what we see is that Wallace is not a complete wr. hes not as good as AB or Sanders. he doesnt give the same effort as those 2 guys. he has more speed, but speed doesnt matter if you cant catch.

i would love to see them resign Wallace, but i wouldnt want to see them break the bank for him. he was given an offer and he turned it down. her has done nothing to prove he desrves a better offer. if anything they should offer him less.

Wallace was thought of as a "one trick pony" and he hasnt done anything to prove otherwise. he is not a possession wr or a reliable wr. when they need to pick up a 3rd down the qbs look for AB, Sanders and Miller 1st. Wallace is not the go to guy in those situations.

he extends the field and that is very important and yes the qbs have missed some opportunities to hit on those big plays, but Wallace also gives up on the ball if its not perfectly thrown.

my biggest complaint about Wallace is his total lack of looking like he cares. all wrs drop passes, but its how he goes about it that bugs me and it obviously bothers his coaches also.

I like how the OP started the thread as "props to mike wallace" and then everyone came on here bashing.

I give Mike props. Without him, the WR corps is not the same.

I've said many times I think Wallace is underperforming this year but lets keep the complaints real. I know opinions vary but come on, it's laughable that anyone thinks that ball could be caught. Hines wouldn't have even tried to catch that. I had the same problem last week with people getting on him for not catching the ball that hit the defender in the head, really?

The drop down the sideline, go ahead, rip him to pieces, unacceptable drop but not jumping for a ball that sailed way over his head? Sorry, not jumping on that train.

not sure if your referring to the other people complaining about Wallace not trying to catch that ball in the endzone or not. i never had a problem with him just watching that ball. he might of had a chance to catch it if he was standing on Shaq's shoulders.

the ball that bounced of the guys helmet was one i had a problem with though. he never changed his stride or even made an attempt to come back for that ball. he just doesnt seem to give the effort that most of us want to see.

what he can bring to the team is probably unmatched. his speed is something that no player can handle. now if he had the work ethic like some of his teammates he would be almost unstoppable, but we just dont see that.

Sorry, I was speaking for myself, that I'm not defending him overall, just on the endzone ball that was clearly the fault of Batch and what people should have a problem with, not that Wallace didn't jump.

The play last week, I guess at best is you could have hoped for a PI call because had Wallace slowed down, that guy would have ran into him and the ball would have hit the defenders @ss instead of his helmet.

I will agree that there are times that he looks unmotivated. The first game against the Ravens this year where the ball bounced at his feet. I think all he had to do is fall to the ground and he could have caught that one.

I think whats happening to Wallace is the opposite of what you see with guys who play great in contract years, he's crumbling under the pressure. That catch down the sideline was so easy it was ridiculous, I think he's caving mentally.

Is that you Mrs Wallace LOL

This has to be some kind of joke. Mike Wallace does not even deserver to 3 million he got this year let alone what was rumoured he was asking for
