I'm ok with a rebuilding, we've neglected our core priorities in the draft for too long. I don't believe this coach can get us to and win another Super Bowl. You must feel he can, so I will leave it at that.

Those 80's teams didn't have any player at the caliber of TJ Watt. Woodson didn't start getting good until '89. And Lloyd wasn't a force until the early 90's. Likewise with Dirt Dawson.

Sorry about the misinterpretation of what you were saying. By the way, I'm an Akron Zip fan so I know a little about long term, chronic, epic, biblical, and utter failure. JMO>

I would take Hot Rod over TJ and might even take him from 88 since he was on the field for the whole season. Ha. Can you imagine Ben having played with the teams of the 80's and 90's.

Clearly that isn’t the case. If it were true y’all wouldn’t be doing what you do. Did y’all ever stop to think both tomlin and Colbert have a boss and that boss has direct input on who we draft/sign? Y’all are so quick to point the finger, but don’t actually think first. We know from what Ben said Colbert and Tomlin didn’t want him back, but Rooney overruled them both. Did Colbert neglect to address needs or did he follow orders?

Idk if Bill B, or Coughlin, or Carroll would have performed better with the Steelers, but neither do you. Hypothetically speaking I'm assuming neither has Brady and all 3 have Rothlisberger in which case I cant see either one of them doing any better than what Tomlin did. I mean Tomlin, Coughlin, and Carroll have been to the same number of SBs so how you could come to the conclusion that they would be any better off than Tomlin at this point is beyond me. Pete Carroll is 11-10 in playoffs, which is not much better % wise then Tomlin at 8-9. Coughlin I think is 12-7 but outside of the SB runs he was under 500.

As far as Bill B is concerned, as good of a coach as he is, let's not disregard the fact he had a GOAT QB taking 1/2 to 2/3 salary that he should have been getting. This allowed the Patriots to make moves cap wise that none of the other three coaches had the luxury of making. We know Russell Wilson and Ben certainly weren't taking pay cuts. I cant say whether the Patriots wins (especially playoffs) over time weren't facilitated by cheating and I dont want it to appear as if I'm sucking on sour grapes so im going to leave it at that despite there being evidence of such (i.e. recording other teams practices). I will only stick by my initial point that if Bill B had Ben R as his QB I dont think he would have 6 rings or anywhere near that because more important than anything else Ben is taking a 35 million dollar salary and Brady is taking a $23 million (I might be off with both numbers, but you get my gist). Huge difference and it allowed them to keep or go after key players they otherwise couldn't afford.

I think you're overrating the Steelers talent level over the years. I could show you offensive and defensive rankings over the years and typically when one was up the other was down. Neither would be terrible at any one time with the exception of the last couple of years, but there weren't many instances where they both were top 10 at the same time. Surprisingly enough, or maybe not surprisingly, it was usually the offense that was so/so not the defense.

The numbers actually seem to suggest not only have you overrated what Steelers were over the last 10 years...in reality Tomlin has actually done well with what he had when we consider how poorly the Steelers have drafted and where they drafted the last 10 years. Typically when a key player went down there was a huge drop off with the next man up due to lack of depth. So his teams have not underperformed ( w/ the exception of 2017...I made the mistake of typing 2019 previously), but what they have not done is overachieved. I could go on to point out the fact that Steelers have been cursed with not having a healthy team and missing key players in playoff runs like Bell, Shazier, etc. The year they started off 11-0 their defense started dropping like flies. I think it's only fair to take that into consideration concerning lack of playoff success.

Holy crap, yeah that was a big miss. Marino was a drinker in college but somebody started the drugs rumor and that scared off Rooney. After Unitas that is the 2nd worst decision we made but hindsight is 20/20. Wonder how much that influenced the Pickett pick.

Good points, I used those coaches as examples that I believe always seemed to have their teams well prepared. But you are right on the injury bug, Woodson, Hines, Pouncey all injured for Super Bowls, Franco and Rocky out agains the Raiders (maybe our best team ever). Then untimely career enders, Mendenhall bags out, Shazier goes down so all fair points. Not going OL and DL in recent drafts is killing us. I think Rooney gives him a chance to rebuild and then we will see how good he is (I do truly hope I eat crow but my gut says he's the wrong coach for a young team, a veteran team seems to be better suited for his player friendly style).

Someone posted that the Steelers were a "Bottom 3 Team." Three? That's generous. I cannot fathom any team worse than this current edition of the Steelers.

You must not watch other teams play, Detroit, Indy, Houston, and Carolina are just as bad if not worse.
