And I’m not. And I’m not even talking about Lombardis. We haven’t even been competitive in the playoffs over the last 10 years.

I would say that if you go back and look at some of our pathetic playoff losses over the last 10 years you’ll find that, from a pure talent perspective, we were the superior team. I just think in too many of those games we came our seemingly flat, uninspired and unprepared to play. I know Tomlin didn’t throw the interceptions, blah, blah, blah…but maybe those interceptions were thrown because the opposing defense was better prepared than Ben and our offense and that goes back to coaching. Maybe they fooled Ben with scheme, receivers ran the wrong route, Ben made the wrong read, etc. Again, coaching is the key to preparation and those teams that embarrassed us in the playoffs were better prepared.

I think they were looking forward to getting a new coach who would get someone like Mahomes. JMO>

    So basically every team right.
Honestly You just say that because You know all of our players.....all of those teams had great talent, and some like the Tebow loss We had lost some of our main talent before the game.
Hell the best chance I believe We had to win another SB....We lost AB, Bell, and D'Angelo before the game...., and yet it took a fumble by a Rb(just brought up) to lose that playoff game to the SB champion Broncos, but I bet you forgot that.

And the debacles against the Jags and Browns? I’m sure you have an excuse for those losses too. And we lost to Tim Tebow for crying out loud. Was that Tebow’s only playoff win? I think it was.

And this wasn’t intended to be a bash Tomlin post but if it’s turned into one so be it. I’m just not accustomed to seeing the Steelers used as a stat line (stating that we are one of the three worst teams in the NFL) to downplay another team’s undefeated season.

It's not excuses. You aren't winning SBs every year. So what about Tebow....
Bill Belichick ,and Brady lost to the Mr... butt fumbles M. Sanchez in the playoffs, but We beat Him....So is Tomlin better than Belichick???? No...,but if You want to single out games like that.....I could do it all day.

Well 2010 we lost the SB. While couple seasons prior winning a ring. 2016 lost the confrence.

Come on man, don't be that fan not realizing how blessed steelers have been.

Chance to win it all.... 3% chance
Chance to get to SB.... 6% chance

So to doing both of those within 3 years is even more rare.

    So if we haven't reached a SB in 10-15 years, yes I wouldn't be happy. That's a 60%-90% chance.

Also years 15, 16, 17 was a good run as well.

How many times has the team underperformed in big moments. I’m not just talking about playoff games. We’ve also crapped the bed in a countless number of regular season games over the last several years. I remember Tomlin saying at his introductory press conference that he was a “fundamentalist as opposed to scheme” and that’s been borne out throughout his career. There have been a lot of games where he’s been out-schemed and has been playing checkers against master chess players. And I won’t even go into things like clock management, in-game adjustments, etc. Just let me ask, do you disagree with my assertions here, STD? If you do that’s okay. We’ll agree to disagree.

It’s not just about not winning the Super Bowl, it’s about how abysmal our performance has been in the post season.

I agree it's hard to win in the NFL.....I agree it sucks to lose.
I agree all thing have a sell date, and Tomlin's may have come, but every reason You bring up is not realistic....its....recency bias. You compare who is doing good now...not how come, or how long they haven't been good before....Hell You brought up S. Peyton the other day.....if someone is getting on Tomlin...yet wants S. Peyton....I don't know what to think.....you talk about wasting talent...

I brought up Sean Peyton because I think Pickett would be better served with an offensive minded coach to jumpstart his career and I stand by that. If you gave me the choice between Sean Peyton or Mike Tomlin for this current iteration of the Pittsburgh Steelers, I’ll take Peyton.

Everyone's expectations are different and yours apparently have been met, therefore you are thankful for the last decades performance, and there is nothing wrong with that. Others may have different expectations and desires to see this team achieve more and vocalize their displeasure when their expectations are not met and its looking like it may not for some time to come. Funny that half the posters complain about where this team is (or its HC), and the other half complains about the complainers. So, if people are tired of people complaining about the same things, I would avoid making others tired of hearing about it. I believe there are posters that haven't been around all that long and maybe didn't conduct a thorough familiarization of all the past posting on the board. So, if they post something against the coaching of their team which they have an opinion about, should they be warned, or a given a disclaimer when joining which states: New posts that are negative about the HC of the Pittsburgh Steelers will be met with numerous complaints and possible insults that may make you not want to post anything for fear of counter complaints against you regarding this subject. BTW, this isn't a complain, just an observation and opinion to be trashed if so desired. JMO>

So are You denying Peyton didn't waste talent, and run away as soon as his HOF QB left???

Look at what I just posted. I think it really clears it up that some of these fans don't realize how blessed steelers have been. Besides the patriots, there's not many happy recent teams in the last 15 years. People don't realize as league expanded it means less of a chance. We are now up to 32 teams. I don't know if it'll be ever more than that, unless they go back to 5 teams in a couple divisions. Because going to 40 is insane.

Cowboys rings were on vhs tapes and cassets.

Teams that are blessed in my order is
Steelers because it's broken up over 50 years.
Patriots because it was a mega dynasty
    49ers, similar to us
    .... then drops off
    Giants similar
Green bay because of deep history
    ..... falls off more
    Washington
Oakland raiders. History and wins (but nothing recent)
And then broncos fire a semi dynasty.
    ..... really falls off.

After that it is rough to be a fan of a certain team, specially if you were not a fan watching them then.

and Specially when it's only one ring. And is horrible when there's no wins.

Just because sean Payton made brees better after his bad injury, doesn't mean he can transform QB.... Also his defense was horrible year end year out. If not for his bountygate they would have not got a ring.

I like him. But no way I would want him as the coach. Specially knowing saints well demand multiple first round picks for him.

Oh, he missed some opportunities for sure. I’m not sure he “ran away” because Brees retired. Putting all of that aside, I still think an offensive minded coach like Peyton would be a better fit for Pickett, Pickens, Najee and the rest of the offensive talent we have than somebody like Tomlin who would trust our young, talented offense to a gimmicky sub-par college coordinator like Canada.

I'll give You Canada was a disaster hire, but I'm all about the D....I rather have a D mindset HC, and hire a great OC.
Also yes...without Brees...He ran away....I don't know how You can say anything else.

Well, 2017 was the year the Jags led by Blake Bortles destroyed the Steelers so I’m not sure I’d agree we had a good run there based on the ending to the season. Pathetic performance by the team all the way around. 2015-2016 we’re pretty good runs but I remember going into the AFC Championship game in 2016 thinking the Steelers had a legitimate shot only to once again be owned by Belichick, Brady and the Pats.

Who are the teams winning Super Bowls these days? Teams with offensive minded head coaches.

Don't worry about it. If you want to criticize MT, that's fine by me, it's your post and opinion. It's a tough time we're going through right now. Add that it's a bye week and there's no game just amplifies it somewhat. I have always hated to lose a game before a bye week. JMO>
