Needed to happen today now he is lost for the season.

This definitley means Chase is safe, no way they trade him now.

Sorry, that above link says it is unlikely he plays but I think they have 30 minutes to activate him. They would have done it by now. Can he practice with the team if they don’t activate him? I don’t get this move at all. Totally stunting his development.

I think it’s stupid. Shelve Gunnar. We’re 2-5. We’re not playing an 18th game this season. Let’s develop our future talent. Even if he makes a few mistakes, get him game action.

I would tend to agree, but is there something underlying that could lead to bigger issues? I can't remember exactly but wasn't there another injury involved? On IR I know his contact with the team is highly limited, but rehabbing and getting some muscle built into that small frame might be the best at this point.

So is this because he hasn’t fully recovered or because Canada doesn’t know what the £*€# to do with him?

Tomlin is saying because he is so far behind in his development. Hasn’t been in the building, hasn’t played in pre season, just way way way behind.

    Maybe it’s because he’s 5 2 110 lbs?

See Blast’s post. If it’s just because of his development, it would be a good reason if we were contending. We’re not contending, so let’s work him in slowly.

If it’s an injury issue, then yeah we should shelve him.

I mean the Canada route tree is fairly complex.

Yeah, I read that as well. How far can you really be behind with this offense? We only run about 10 plays. Tell the kid to run a slant, hit him in stride and let him wing it from there.

I tend to agree with Tomlin on this one.
I would even go as far as saying 'get him all healed up, do some more NFL conditioning, and let's go at it in the spring'
He's not going to have much of an impact and is way behind.

*I forget what the rule is nowdays, I thought he could practice.

He probably is...You know that Matt Canada playbook is so complex and detailed...It takes endless hours in the Lab to perfect

Those tricky Steelers. Once the train leaves the station it’s hard to jump on board. Our systems are just so much more complex than most teams.

I wouldn't be so sure on the Claypool part, quite the opposite...We go to 2-6, the Season is pretty much over...Why NOT trade him for a decent pick...When you know you have Austin coming back next year

Actually they likely are more complex in total scheme, problem is the total we use is about 10 generic plays.

Idk what a decent pick is, but where this team is we have Boykin to step in. At this point im.on the phone with GB and trying for a 3rd and 4th...or 5th. I'd take that in a minute, doubtful but the pack has the picks

I love that answer. Way Behind what? A Garbage Offense? Good lord at what point does this team actually self evaluate and shake up the box?

Development is the problem. You're not developing anyone with how this thing is drawn up and called. You're stunting growth, because next year they might have a decent offense they have to learn.

You're going to have to break habits formed this year! You're stunting development in the name of looking like you don't make hasty decisions.

They won’t quit on the season, 2-6 to them will just mean an opportunity to win 8,9,10 games.

They are also going to want Pickett to have the best opportunity to grow and succeed. Making it harder on him won’t fly.

Either they are hiding something or this is a really stupid move. This team is going nowhere. Let the kid be inactive for a month if you have to, then get him in there.

Claypool is under contract for all next year too.

You really think you are going to find a WR in the 2nd half of the draft next year to replace Claypool? If he stays on the roster this year and next year; we will probably still get your 3rd, 4th or 5th round pick for free as a comp Pick from the NFL.
